The Estimator will work closely with our Sales, Engineering, Solutions, Project Management, and Operations teams to review opportunities, interpret plans and specifications, develop labor and material requirements, obtain vendor and subcontractor pricing, and prepare detailed project estimates.

This position is ideal for someone who understands how telecommunications projects are actually built in the field and can translate drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and customer requirements into a complete and executable project budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare pricing for structured cabling, fiber optic systems, outside plant infrastructure, network deployments, physical security, and related technology systems
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor, distributor, manufacturer, and subcontractor quotations
  • Identify scope gaps, exclusions, assumptions, risks, and potential change-order exposure
  • Review prevailing wage, union labor, project labor agreement, bonding, insurance, permitting, logistics, and other project-specific cost requirements
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Solutions teams to validate system designs, bills of material, and technical requirements
  • Work with Sales and Business Development teams to develop competitive bid strategies and pricing
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, scope reviews, and internal bid reviews
  • Prepare estimate summaries, proposal pricing, alternates, allowances, and value-engineering options
  • Support project handoff from estimating to Project Management and Operations following award
  • Maintain accurate historical pricing, labor productivity data, and estimating assumptions
  • Assist with change-order pricing and project cost reviews as needed
  • Manage multiple estimates and bid deadlines simultaneously

Required Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, plans, and bid documents
  • Working knowledge of labor and material estimating, quantity takeoffs, and project costing
  • Familiarity with fiber optic cabling, copper structured cabling, pathways, racks, cabinets, network infrastructure, and related systems
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating or project management software
  • Ability to develop organized, detailed, and defensible estimates
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to identify project risks, missing scope, constructability concerns, and cost impacts
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across Sales, Engineering, Operations, Project Management, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience estimating outside plant fiber and Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) construction
  • Experience with public-sector, municipal, K-12, higher education, healthcare, or data center projects
  • Knowledge of prevailing wage, union labor, and public bidding requirements
  • Experience with physical security, wireless, access control, video surveillance, or network infrastructure
  • Familiarity with estimating platforms, Bluebeam, takeoff software, CRM systems, or construction management platforms
  • Field, project management, engineering, or telecommunications construction experience

  • Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP)
  • Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • Career advancement opportunities across estimating, engineering, project management, operations, and leadership
  • The opportunity to work on large, complex infrastructure projects within a growing 100% employee-owned company
