JOB TITLE:ย Aircraft Structures Mechanic โ€“ Housing Support
LOCATION: San Antonio, TX
PAY RATE: $43.05/hour

We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client.

Qualifying Questions:

Summary:ย 

  • Perform close-tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation on critical support structures and fracture-critical areas

  • Locate blind holes for installation of new structural items on existing structures

  • Conduct sealing, painting, shimming, and preservation of structures per standard repair processes

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specifications, and retrofit requirements for structural modification/repair

  • Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot-level modification and repair of structural parts

  • Apply knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair and replacement

  • Perform aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair, assess functionality of non-complex electrical systems

  • Utilize aircraft-specific tools such as torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and shears, and test equipment

  • Access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate online parts and discrepancy requests

  • Maintain required certifications, licenses, and permits

  • Ascend/descend vertical ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads up to ~35 pounds

  • Ensure safe working environment using Hazardous Energy and Lock Out/Tag systems

  • Assist team members (General Mechanics, Avionics, Electronics) to meet cost/schedule targets

  • Pass assessment at the end of the training cycle

  • Comply with SA Site Tool and FOD procedures

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • 4+ years working with non-porous metals (aluminum, titanium, stainless steel)

  • 4+ years interpreting schematics, specifications, assembly drawings, and SOPs

  • 4+ years using structures hand tools (drills, pancake adapters, countersink cages, hole finders, rivet guns)

  • 4+ years working with heavy structures (doublers, stringers, webs, seat tracks, etc.) on aircraft

  • Ability to work variable shifts, including scheduled/unscheduled overtime, weekends, and holidays

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in aircraft heavy maintenanceย 

  • Experience with titanium aircraft structures

  • Ability to operate forklift, mobile crane, or riding-type electric elevating equipment
