Job description

Triple-S Steel is a family-owned business that has grown into one of the largest suppliers of structural steel products in the country. The CAD Drafter is responsible for understanding the layouts of steel designs and translating them into machinery language for the burn tables and tube laser. The ideal candidate will have experience preparing detailed working diagrams, including dimensions, fastening methods and other engineering information. They will also ensure all work is done on time.

  • Program and optimize CNC cutting operations for burn tables using CAD/CAM software to ensure efficient material usage and accurate part production.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation to create precise cutting programs.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, material requirements, and production terminology related to plate processing and structural components.
  • Develop, edit, and troubleshoot cutting programs utilizing G-Codes and M-Codes.
  • Prioritize programming work based on production schedules, due dates, and on-time delivery requirements.
  • Work closely with production personnel to ensure programs run efficiently and produce high-quality parts.
  • Support shop floor operations when needed, including operating burn tables and assisting with machine setup and troubleshooting.
  • Learn and develop proficiency in tube laser programming and operation to support expanding production capabilities.
  • Monitor program performance and make adjustments to improve cut quality, material utilization, and production efficiency.
  • Maintain records, program files, nesting data, and production logs as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
