Job description

Ironworker / Welder – Savannah, Georgia

Pay Rate: $28–$32 per hour (based on experience)

Per Diem: $100.00 per day (days worked only – must meet per diem requirements)

Hours: 55–60 hours per week


Position Overview:

We are seeking experienced Ironworkers/Welders to join our construction team in Savannah, GA. This role involves the precise installation, alignment, and welding of structural steel components on commercial and industrial projects. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. This is a long-term opportunity with steady hours and per diem benefits for eligible days worked.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Set up hoisting equipment, rigging, and lifting of structural steel members.
  • Fasten steel members to hoist cables using chains, cables, or ropes.
  • Signal equipment operators to lift and position steel members safely.
  • Use tag lines to guide steel into proper position.
  • Align and secure members using turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks, and hand tools.
  • Align bolt holes and temporarily bolt or weld members in place.
  • Verify vertical and horizontal alignment using plumb bobs and levels.
  • Perform cutting and welding of steel members using oxyacetylene and welding equipment.
  • Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, and supplies.
  • Assist with lifting, positioning, and securing materials during installation.
  • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
  • Comply with all site safety rules and wear required PPE.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to work with precision and within strict tolerances.
  • Apply shop mathematics to layout and fabrication tasks.
  • Plan work efficiently and select proper tools.
  • Ability to identify differences in size, shape, and form of structural components.
  • Previous structural steel, ironwork, or welding experience preferred.
  • Must have tools of the trade and reliable transportation.
  • Must adhere to all safety standards and company policies.
  • Must meet per diem eligibility requirements.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
  • Must have OSHA 10 or higher certification.
