Job Title: Structural Steel Estimator / Project Manager

Position Summary:
The Project Manager is responsible for the successful execution of all projects. This role includes managing both the design and construction phases, ensuring seamless collaboration between clients, designers, architects, engineers and subcontractors. The Project Manager will oversee project schedules, budgets, quality, and safety, and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Essential Functions:
We are seeking a full-time skilled and detail-oriented Structural Steel Estimator/ Project Manager to join Firelands Fabrication. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in assessing project requirements, estimating costs, and preparing accurate proposals for steel manufacturing projects. This position requires a deep understanding of steel fabrication processes, materials, and industry standards. The list of duties and responsibilities includes, but is not limited to the following:
Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Collaborate with project managers, erectors, engineers, field trades, vendors, and other stakeholders to understand project specifications and requirements.
    • Conduct site visits, if necessary, to gather relevant information.
    • Analyze project drawings and specifications to determine the quantity and type of materials required.
    • Estimate labor, equipment, and process costs associated with steel fabrication.
    • Evaluate supplier quotes and negotiate prices to ensure cost-effectiveness.
    • Prepare detailed and accurate project cost estimates to develop comprehensive bid proposals for steel fabrication projects, ensuring alignment with project scope and client requirements.
    • Utilize estimating software and tools to enhance precision and efficiency.
    • Collaborate with the project management team to strategize and enhance bid competitiveness.
    • Maintain detailed and organized records of project estimates, including assumptions and methodologies.
    • Evaluate and execute contracts and purchase orders from clients.
    • Communicate and maintain project schedules and sequencing.
    • Specify and source appropriate steel materials and components.
    • Steward relationships with clients and vendors to assure a high level of customer satisfaction.
    • Generate reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Monitor actual project costs against estimated costs throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Provide regular updates on schedule and cost variations and potential impacts.
    • Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and technologies to enhance estimating accuracy.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, construction management or related field preferred.
    • Proven experience as an Estimator in steel manufacturing or fabrication.
    • In-depth knowledge of steel materials, fabrication processes, and industry standards.
    • Experience reading drawings and using common measuring tools.
    • Proficiency in estimating software and tools.
    • Experience with Microsoft suite.
    • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
    • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
    • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
