Build Your Career with Bengal

Bengal Crane & Rigging is hiring experienced Industrial Ironworkers to erect, connect, align, and secure structural steel on industrial and heavy-construction projects throughout the Houston area.

This is a hands-on field position involving structural steel erection, bolt-up, rigging, crane signaling, elevated work, and the installation of platforms, stairs, grating, handrails, and related structural components.

We are looking for safety-driven ironworkers who can read drawings, work confidently at elevated heights, communicate effectively with crane operators and rigging crews, and complete quality work without constant supervision.

Bengal has supported industrial, petrochemical, construction, crane, rigging, and heavy-transport projects across the Gulf South for more than 25 years.

What We Offer
  • Competitive hourly pay based on experience

  • Weekly pay with direct deposit

  • Overtime opportunities

  • Major medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • Company-paid life insurance

  • 401(k) retirement plan

  • Short-term and long-term disability options

  • Paid vacation and holidays

  • Consistent work with a growing Gulf South contractor

  • Long-term career and advancement opportunities

  • Military-friendly employer

What You'll Be Doing
  • Raise, position, connect, align, and secure columns, beams, girders, and other structural steel members

  • Connect structural steel using bolts, welds, and approved fastening methods

  • Perform initial and final bolt-up according to drawings, specifications, and project requirements

  • Read and interpret structural drawings, erection plans, details, elevations, bolt schedules, and specifications

  • Rig steel members using slings, chokers, shackles, chains, cables, taglines, and other approved rigging equipment

  • Signal crane and equipment operators during lifting and steel-placement operations

  • Guide structural members into position using taglines, drift pins, bull pins, spud wrenches, come-alongs, turnbuckles, jacks, and related tools

  • Verify vertical and horizontal alignment using levels, plumb bobs, lasers, transits, and other measuring equipment

  • Install structural steel, metal decking, grating, stairs, ladders, handrails, platforms, supports, and miscellaneous metals

  • Cut, grind, fit, and modify structural components as permitted by project specifications

  • Perform tack welding or structural welding only when properly trained, tested, and authorized

  • Inspect tools, fall-protection equipment, rigging hardware, and connection points before use

  • Maintain positive control of tools and materials while working at elevated heights

  • Coordinate closely with crane operators, riggers, welders, supervisors, and other construction crafts

  • Follow erection sequences, lift plans, barricades, exclusion zones, and dropped-object prevention requirements

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area

  • Participate in safety meetings, job hazard analyses, training, and customer orientations

  • Follow all Bengal, customer, OSHA, and project-specific safety procedures

  • Perform other duties as assigned by project supervision

What You Need
  • At least three years of verifiable industrial or heavy-construction ironworker experience

  • Strong structural steel erection, connecting, alignment, and bolt-up experience

  • Experience working from aerial lifts, scaffolds, ladders, and structural steel at elevated heights

  • Working knowledge of basic rigging methods, crane hand signals, taglines, and load control

  • Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, erection plans, and specifications

  • Ability to properly use spud wrenches, bull pins, drift pins, impacts, come-alongs, torches, grinders, levels, and related ironworker tools

  • Understanding of fall protection, steel erection safety, dropped-object prevention, and controlled-access areas

  • Ability to safely connect steel while maintaining required tie-off

  • Reliable transportation to Houston-area job sites

  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, nights, and extended schedules when required

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a crane, rigging, and steel-erection crew

  • Strong safety awareness, communication, dependability, and attention to detail

This is a field-based structural steel erection position. Welding-only, shop fabrication, or structural-fitting experience without field erection and connecting experience will not substitute for the required ironworker experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Four or more years of journeyman-level industrial ironworker experience

  • NCCER Industrial Ironworker certification

  • NCCER or third-party Rigger and Signal Person certification

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30

  • Current TWIC card

  • Current Houston-area safety council credentials

  • Aerial lift or mobile elevated work platform certification

  • Ability to work at elevated heights while wearing required fall-protection equipment

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, balance, push, pull, and reach throughout the shift
