Job description

Job Title: Structural Welder (Launch Hardware) – Multiple ShiftsJob Description

This role focuses on welding and fabricating launch hardware and structural components for advanced aerospace systems. You will work with a variety of welding processes and materials to build high‑precision structures that support cutting‑edge spaceflight technology.

Responsibilities
  • Perform flux cored arc welding (FCAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), and gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum structural shapes, tubing, and piping.
  • Cut, trim, fit, and fabricate weldments to precise dimensions using standard welding tools, materials, and trade practices for building and assembly.
  • Collaborate closely with the lead welder to determine the correct weld procedures, materials, and filler rod sizes for each project.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to plan welding operations, including situations where detailed procedural information is not provided.
  • Apply strong blueprint reading and fitting skills to ensure accurate layout, alignment, and assembly of structural and pipe components.
  • Use MIG and TIG welding techniques as required to meet fabrication and quality standards for launch hardware and related structures.
  • Maintain welding quality in accordance with applicable codes and standards, ensuring welds meet structural and safety requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts to enhance operations, reduce turnaround times, and streamline work processes.
  • Work cooperatively with team members and other departments to support an efficient and effective production environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall team productivity and maintain a safe, organized work area.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • At least 1 year of experience welding in a manufacturing environment using flux cored arc welding (FCAW) or gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) on SCH 10 pipe.
  • Hands‑on experience with FCAW, GMAW, SMAW, and GTAW welding processes.
  • Ability to weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum structural shapes, tubing, and piping.
  • Proficiency in tube and pipe cutting, grinding, and fabrication.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Strong fitting skills for structural and pipe assemblies.
  • Knowledge of DC GTAW welding techniques and engineering requirements.
  • Previous welding qualifications in accordance with one or more governing codes such as AWS D1.1, AWS D1.2, AWS D1.6, or ASME Section IX.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and adherence to established welding procedures and standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional experience in GTAW welding with SCH 10 stainless steel pipe and/or SCH 10 carbon steel pipe.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in FCAW welding with stainless steel and/or carbon steel.
  • Experience fabricating and welding structural components for complex hardware such as spacecraft or launch structures.
  • Advanced skill in blueprint reading and layout for structural and piping systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on high‑precision fabrication projects with tight tolerances.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to plan welding operations where procedures are not fully defined.
  • Proven track record of contributing to process improvements and efficiency gains in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.

You will work with advanced welding equipment and tools, handling carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, structural shapes, tubing, and piping. The environment emphasizes precision, cleanliness, and adherence to safety protocols, with a strong focus on teamwork and efficient workflow.

This is a Contract position based out of Cocoa, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $37.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
