Job description

The Civil / Structural Engineer Intern or Co-op will work alongside other Civil / Structural Engineers to prepare drawings, calculations, and other deliverables for our clients' design projects. The position will also interface with team members in our other engineering disciplines to provide cohesive engineering packages to our clients.
Responsibilities
  • Perform existing drawing research
  • Design 2-D graphics using AutoCAD, and 3-D graphics using Revit
  • Update Nexus graphics standards
  • Develop Nexus templates for the Structural Department
  • Review codes and create project design specifications
  • Assist experienced Structural Engineers with their activities as requested

Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree (or equivalent education) in Civil Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university
  • Ability to work within diverse teams assembled from Nexus, clients, and others
  • Effective communication skills in order to convey ideas is a must
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel and WordSeeks feedback to improve performance
  • Proficient with AutoCAD, Revit or other drafting software desired
  • Exposure to STAADPRO or similar packaged finite element programs a plus

Potential Experiences
  • Gain an understanding of the business and engineering work flow in a consulting firm
  • Expand capabilities with drafting software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or others
  • Introduced to STAADPRO for finite element analysis
  • Exposure to and application of industry codes and standards related to the structural discipline functions
