Duties * You will be responsible for executing in-house structural engineering design work products and services within specified milestones and quality standards * You will perform quality assurance review of drawings, specifications, calculations, cost estimates, and studies prepared by A/E design firms. * You will conduct site investigation field trips to project sites. * You will prepare correspondence, reports, and economic analyses. Prepare written and oral presentations regarding architectural-related topics. * You will assist with construction quality assurance for active construction projects including the following activities; submittal review, responding to RFIs, quality assurance site visits and inspections, commissioning, and project closeout. Qualifications Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
