Structural Design Engineer (Associate and Experienced )

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking Structural Design Engineers (Associate (Level 2) and Experienced (Level 3)) to join the Air Vehicle Engineering team located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

A successful member of this team will understand and execute modifications and upgrades for the B-1 Bombers.

Position Responsibilities(Level 2):

  • Assists to develop, integrate and document structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.
  • Develops, maintains and modifies basic structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Performs tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Assists with supplier development, test and production activities and coordination with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.
  • Supports investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
  • Participates in technical review of supplier capabilities to facilitate source selection.
  • Documents processes, specifications and procedures that support the design and manufacture of structural commodities.
  • Assesses and resolves product/process issues through the product lifecycle.
  • Supports cross-functional teams to analyze, conduct root cause analysis and develop dispositions for complex design non-conformances.
  • Works under general supervision.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

BasicQualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 2 or more years of experience in mechanical and/or structural design
  • 2 or more years of experience creating, executing, reviewing, and managing structural design models
  • 2 or more years of experience working conceptual, preliminary and detailed design including 2D drawings and 3D deliverables
  • 2 or more years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
  • 2 or more years of experience in CAD/CAM software (CATIA V5, SolidWorks, Siemens NX)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Active U.S. Secret Clearance
  • Experience validating or verifying structural models
  • Strong written, verbal communications and presentation skills
  • Experience with structural design principles for aircraft primary structures, secondary structures, interior payloads
  • UPR/MRB experience in commercial derivative platforms
  • Experience with analytical, communication and problem-solving skills
