The Thornton TomasettiConstruction EngineeringPractice leverages our core Structural Engineering expertise to meet the engineering needs of our contractor.We provide contractor support engineering, tower crane engineering, skip hoist engineering, shoring and reshoring design, connection design, and erection engineering. We also partner with contractors and sub-contractors to provide value engineering ideas and perform structural design on design-build projects.

The Role

We have an opportunity for a Structural Engineer Intern for both our Structural Practice and Construction Engineering Practice for the summer of 2027.

As an Engineer Intern at Thornton Tomasetti, you will gain hands-on experience on real-world projects, ranging from high-rise buildings and cultural institutions to sports venues, transportation facilities, and complex renovation or adaptive-reuse work. You will collaborate with talented professionals across disciplines in a dynamic, team-oriented environment, gaining meaningful exposure to innovative structural design and engineering solutions.

  • Contribute to the structural analysis, design and detailing of steel, concrete,masonryand timber systems across a variety of building project types.

  • Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and other design professionals to support the delivery of high-quality, coordinated designs.

  • Assistin preparing construction documents and drawings within a BIM environment, gaining practical experience with industry-standard tools, workflows, and documentation practices.
