Project Manager - Heavy Civil

VSL Civil

Location: Manassas, VA supporting projects throughout the Northeast Region


Travel: Approximately 20-25%

Work Schedule: Flexible work hours and hybrid office schedule

VSL Civil, we are growing our Heavy Civil division and looking for an experienced Project Manager to help lead some of the most challenging and specialized infrastructure projects in the industry.

What You'll Do

As a Project Manager, you will lead complex heavy civil construction projects from planning through execution while partnering closely with field leadership, clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.

Projects may include:

  • Bridge inspection, repair, and strengthening

  • Post-tensioning installation and repair

  • Structural concrete placement and beam erection

  • CFRP and structural strengthening systems

  • Water & wastewater structures

  • Design-build and self-perform specialty construction

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead project safety and quality initiatives while mentoring field teams

  • Manage schedules, budgets, forecasting, and project P&L

  • Oversee contracts, buyouts, subcontractors, and procurement

  • Coordinate work plans, submittals, and equipment needs

  • Partner with estimating and sales teams on proposals and bid reviews

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships

  • Provide leadership to Project Engineers, Field Managers, Superintendents, and crews

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field

  • 7+ years of heavy civil construction experience

  • Prime contracting experience preferred

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Experience managing projects ranging from $1M-$10M+

  • Background in bridge work, post-tensioning, structural concrete, strengthening, or related specialty construction

  • Strong working knowledge of:

    • Microsoft Office Suite

    • MS Project or Primavera P6

    • Procore and related project management tools

  • Strong leadership, communication, and mentorship skills

  • Willingness to travel regionally as needed
