Senior Structural Engineer / Project Coordinator
Location: Toledo, OH, Cincinnati, OH, and Dayton, OH
Job Summary
Fishbeck is seeking a talented Senior Structural Engineer to join our growing Structural team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of building, infrastructure, and specialty structural projects for municipal, educational, industrial, and commercial clients.
The ideal candidate will contribute to structural engineering design. In addition to performing engineering tasks, this position may include communication with project stakeholders, coordination of project deliverables, and occasional field investigations. Technical excellence, strong collaboration skills, and a commitment to producing well-coordinated design documents are essential for success in this role.
Primary Functions
  • Plan, analyze, and design structural systems for buildings and other structures using materials such as structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, prestressed concrete, and wood/timber systems.
  • Collaborate with Structural department staff to conceptualize economical structural systems suited to a variety of project types.
  • Prepare structural calculations, design drawings, and specifications consistent with applicable building codes and standards.
  • Communicate with external clients and internal teams regarding project scope, schedule, and expectations for deliverables.
  • Provide project coordination support including assisting with project schedules, deliverable tracking, and team communication.
  • Participate in project meetings and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across Fishbeck offices.
  • Assist in preparing project proposals, scope documents, and fee estimates with technical staff and potential teaming partners.
Field and Site Support
Occasional fieldwork may be required, including visiting project sites or potential project sites to review existing structural conditions and document findings in report format. This may include performing site observations during construction or assisting with structural assessments.
Desired Education
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a structural emphasis.
Desired Skills/Experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
  • Approximately 8-12 years of structural engineering consulting experience.
  • Experience designing structures using applicable codes including IBC, ASCE 7, AISC 360, and ACI 318.
  • Familiarity with structural modeling in a BIM environment (preferably Revit).
  • Experience using analytical/design software such as RISA, RAM, or Tedds.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while supporting both technical and coordination responsibilities.

Minimum Physical Requirements
Mobility to work in both office and field settings, including sitting, walking, and light lifting. Ability to use a computer and standard office equipment.
