Job description

Overview
As a member of Garver's Buildings Team, the Structural Engineer will develop structural designs and documentation for various projects within the Buildings Business Line. Responsibilities include structural analysis, design, detailing, and construction administration for multiple structural systems, including:
  • Structural Steel
  • Reinforced Concrete
  • Cold-Formed Steel
  • Reinforced masonry
  • Structural Wood
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct structural analysis, design, and detailing.
  • Perform construction administration, including reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, conducting site observations, and preparing reports.
  • Utilize BIM design software to produce structural drawings.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines.
  • Assist project managers and follow QA/QC plans.
  • Manage multiple assignments concurrently.
  • Continue education and learning based on project and team needs.
  • Mentor and train less experienced staff.
  • Assign and coordinate tasks with engineers-in-training and BIM professionals.
  • Collaborate with architects and contractors.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional structural engineering experience.
  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or architectural engineering with a structural emphasis from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas or ability to obtain licensure in Texas within 3 months of joining Garver.
  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and a good team player.
Preferred Requirements and Skills
  • Master’s degree in civil engineering or architectural engineering with a structural emphasis from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Proficient with Bentley RAM Structural System and RAM Elements.
  • Experience with Autodesk Revit and Construction Cloud.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
  • Experience with AIA MasterSpec.
  • Working knowledge of US building codes and structural design standards.
