Role Summary:

The Production Technician II – UAS Assembly & Composites performs independent structural assembly, system integration, and composite fabrication tasks within a quality-controlled manufacturing environment. This role supports production stability, throughput performance, and configuration discipline as the organization scales. 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural assembly and mechanical integration independently. 
  • Install propulsion, structural, and system components. 
  • Interpret engineering drawings and digital work instructions. 
  • Perform composite layups, bonding, trimming, and finishing tasks. 
  • Execute structural bonding procedures per approved processes. 
  • Maintain cleanliness and discipline in composite areas. 
  • Support line balance and throughput targets. 
  • Assist in troubleshooting minor build issues. 
  • Cross-train across multiple production stations. 
  • Ensure builds match approved baseline revisions. 
  • Record work accurately in ERP/MES. 
  • Support traceability requirements. 
  • Follow composite and manufacturing safety protocols. 
  • Support continuous improvement efforts. 

Qualifications & Experience:

Required:

  • 2–5 years' experience in aerospace, advanced manufacturing, composites, or mechanical fabrication. 
  • Experience reading engineering drawings independently. 
  • Experience using torque tools and controlled fastening. 
  • Strong mechanical aptitude. 
  • Ability to work in fast-paced manufacturing environment.   

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods (up to 8–10 hours per shift) while performing assembly and composite fabrication tasks on a production floor.
  • Frequent use of hands and fine motor skills for precision assembly, composite layup, trimming, bonding, sanding, and finishing operations.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver materials, tooling, and aircraft components up to 30 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally, with or without assistance.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions and sustained hand/arm movements associated with composite fabrication, including cutting, sanding, and tool operation.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, and working in confined or limited-access areas within aircraft structures or tooling fixtures.
  • Close visual acuity required for detailed inspection of composite surfaces, fiber alignment, bonding quality, and adherence to technical drawings and work instructions, including color differentiation when required.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment with exposure to composite materials, resins, adhesives, and dust, requiring consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, gloves, eye protection, and ESD protection
