The Senior Structural Engineer will be responsible for guiding the full structural scope and leading the development of structural system designs in support of design/build projects including Industrial, Self-storage, Controlled Environments, Entertainment, Multi-Family, and other types of facilities.

A DAY IN THE LIFE
  • Prepare detailed structural designs for design/build projects across several project-types.
  • Design and specify structural systems including load calculations, gravity and lateral system analysis, structural details, and connections for various projects.
  • Work with our multi-disciplined engineering team to deliver projects.
  • Lead projects with supporting engineering and modeling staff to deliver comprehensive structural design packages.
  • Assist in the development of industry-leading automated design methods and tools as part of a forward-thinking, innovation-focused team of engineers and R&D staff.
  • Work with our fabrication modeling team to facilitate successful project execution.
  • Provide value engineering reviews and alternate design options to maximize cost savings, optimize lead times, and better execute projects.
  • Interface with clients, contractors, and vendors on technical issues as structural expert
  • Participate in budgeting, scheduling, and staff management.
  • Act in a manner of integrity that shows support for the company, its values, and the employees, while maintaining constant focus on meeting/exceeding customer requirements and expectations

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Preferred prior experience working as a consulting structural engineer
  • 5 - 15 years of design experience of increasing complexity projects
  • BS in Civil, Architectural, or Structural Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Structural Engineer (SE) licensure is preferred; AME Engineering will support the pursuit of additional licensure
  • Able to organize, plan and manage multiple activities/projects to accomplish desired results
  • Expertise utilizing structural engineering software such as Etabs, SAFE, SAP, RAM, Enercalc, L-pile, etc. for structural design
  • BIM experience - Revit required, Tekla Structures is a plus
  • Industrial and Warehouse building design experience is a plus
  • Steel connection design experience is a plus
  • Load-bearing, Cold-Formed metal framing (CFMF) design experience is a plus
  • Familiarity and experience with creating advanced design spreadsheets is a plus
  • Experience with parametric design approaches using Grasshopper, Dynamo, and other methods is a plus
  • Programming language/coding experience such as VBA, C#, Python, and other languages is a plus
