The Opportunity

We are seeking a talented and motivated Professional Engineer (PE) with expertise in structural design and analysis to join our growing team in New York. This position offers a primarily technical role with clear pathways for advancement into project leadership for candidates with interest in career development.

Role and Responsibilities

This dynamic position spans from detailed structural engineering to potential project oversight, tailored to your skills and career aspirations:

Core Technical / Engineering Duties

  • Perform structural design and analysis (steel, concrete, timber, masonry, etc.) for buildings, infrastructure, and industrial/process support structures
  • Prepare calculation packages, technical specifications, and design documentation
  • Produce construction drawings, details, specifications, and design deliverables
  • Review and coordinate structural submittals, respond to RFIs, issue addenda, and review shop drawings
  • Conduct site visits for periodic observation, construction administration, and verification of field conditions
  • Perform structural assessments, retrofit/rehabilitation/repair designs, and forensic investigations
  • Conduct structural peer review or QA/QC checks (self-check, or for junior staff)
  • Collaborate with architects, MEP, geotechnical, civil, and other disciplines to integrate structural design requirements

Project / Client-Facing / Leadership (Growth Opportunities)

  • Assist or lead project scope definition, scheduling, resource planning, and budgeting
  • Act as client technical liaison, attend client meetings, present design decisions
  • Coordinate internal engineering resources, delegate tasks, and mentor less experienced engineers
  • Participate in proposals, estimates, technical write-ups, and business development
  • Track and report progress, anticipate risks, and develop mitigation strategies

Qualifications for Success

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York (required)
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's degree strongly preferred)
  • 3-6+ years of proven experience in structural engineering design, calculations, drawings, and analysis in a consulting/design office environment
  • Advanced proficiency with structural analysis and design software
  • Experience with Revit or similar modeling software is highly desirable
  • Strong technical writing skills for reports, memos, and calculations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities with cross-disciplinary collaboration skills
  • Self-driven, detail-oriented, organized approach with ability to manage multiple tasks under deadlines
  • Willingness to travel to job sites as needed
