To thrive as a Structural Co Op, you need a foundational understanding of structural engineering concepts, coursework in civil or structural engineering, and enrollment in a relevant degree program. Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, and structural analysis software, as well as basic knowledge of building codes, is typically expected. Strong communication, teamwork, and a willingness to learn help set candidates apart in collaborative, project-oriented environments. This hands-on experience offers valuable exposure to real-world engineering challenges and team dynamics, preparing you for a full-time role after graduation.

What are structural co-ops?

Structural co-ops are internship-style positions for students, typically in civil or structural engineering programs, that provide hands-on experience in the structural engineering field. These roles allow students to apply their classroom knowledge to real-world projects, such as designing buildings, bridges, or other structures. Co-ops usually alternate semesters of full-time work with semesters of study, giving students a deeper understanding of the industry and helping them build valuable professional skills.
