Steel Fabrication Shop Superintendent – Lead Multifamily Construction Component Production


Job Overview:

The Opportunity: You will serve as a critical field leader, driving the successful execution of steel fabrication shop operations. This role allows you to mentor the next generation of welders and fabricators while ensuring high-quality component production for a company that values your individual contribution. You will have the autonomy to manage crews and implement systems-driven processes with the support of a leadership team that knows you by name.


How You Will Make an Impact:

  • Supervise and mentor field crews of welders, fitters, and fabricators to ensure high-quality project delivery.
  • Manage the daily execution of shop workflows in strict accordance with project plans and safety protocols.
  • Coordinate complex daily schedules and delegate workloads to maintain strict project timelines and budgets.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of daily production records and safety meetings to ensure project transparency.
  • Resolve real-time technical and logistical issues on-site to prevent production delays or safety hazards.
  • Implement production tracking tools and process improvements to systematically reduce material waste and downtime.
  • Act as the primary field representative for the company values of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.


Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of fabrication or welding shop experience with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven ability to lead large crews and execute complex steel, aluminum, and precast concrete work.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting detailed blueprint drawings, weld symbols, and specifications.
  • Deep knowledge of structural fabrication methods along with hands-on experience in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills necessary for managing production reporting and cross-functional teams.


Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in mentorship or training apprentice-level team members in a shop environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of Strumis, scheduling software, or similar industrial production tracking tools.
  • Familiarity with AWS, AISC, and other relevant structural fabrication and welding codes.
