American Road Markings, LLC is your #1 resource for pavement markings and parking lot maintenance since 2003. We specialize in thermoplastic, traffic paint, and signage created in our on-site shop. We are approved and licensed in every level of government work from federal to municipal and all military facilities. Our senior crew leaders have more than 30 years each in the industry and mentor our crew members to mimic their leadership.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Under the immediate direction of the Foreman, this position is responsible for the preparation and execution of striping for traffic control, installing signs and applying parking lot seal coat. This position will be part of a team that works on highway, surface street, or parking lot-based projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow company and state guidelines for effective, safe well managed work zones.
  • Wear all required safety equipment
  • Cleaning and prepping asphalt before applying materials
  • Clean & prep work
  • Safely handle heavy striping equipment
  • Safely handle hot thermoplastic striping materials
  • Properly follow direction given by foreman
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well with a team
  • Must be able to travel
  • Must have dependable transportation to and from work
  • Must reflect a clean driving record- see qualifications
  • Must be able to work overtime, days, and nights
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • No experience necessary for entry level positions
  • Knowledge of the traffic control industry with prior traffic control or road construction experience preferred
  • Excellent attendance required, dependable transportation, good work ethic
  • Driver's License is preferred, but not required.
  • Successfully pass a background/ drug screen and meet Federal DOT requirements
  • Awareness of the occupational hazards associated with roadway work
  • Ability to be a vital part of our TEAM
  • Responsibility for performing tasks individually when required
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience in Highway Construction environment preferred.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

This position will be based in Norfolk, VA. Travel required.

  • Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions; moving equipment and machinery parts; moving traffic, and fumes and airborne particles
  • Dealing with traveling public effectively
  • Noise level of the work environment is usually moderate/loud
  • Regularly required to stand/walk; reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally lift and/or move lift and move up to 50 pounds
