Title: Athletic Strength and Conditioning Coordinator
Location: Greenville High School
Schedule: 1 hour per day during the school year for programming needs; 32-40 full days beyond the school year to run the Iron Jackets program
Classification: Non-Bargaining Unit Employee
Reports to: Athletic Director
Salary: $78,030 - $97,020 per year based on full-time hours; actual salary will be prorated
Benefits: This position does not meet the requirements for benefit eligibility
POSITION SUMMARY: The Athletic Strength and Conditioning Coordinator will oversee and coordinate the district's Iron Jackets athletic development program, designed to provide students and community youth with opportunities to improve athletic performance, build skills, and promote healthy lifestyles through summer programming and school-year training opportunities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: other duties may be assigned
  • Plan, organize, and oversee the Iron Jackets athletic performance program
  • Develop age-appropriate athletic skill development activities for students participating in the program
  • Coordinate schedules, facilities, and equipment for Iron Jackets activities
  • Collaborate with coaches, teachers, and administrators to support district athletic initiatives
  • Promote participation and positive engagement among students and families
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all participants
  • Communicate program information, schedules, and expectations with families and participants
  • Monitor program attendance and participation data
  • Ensure compliance with district policies, safety procedures, and student supervision expectations
  • Assist with budgeting, purchasing, and inventory of athletic equipment and supplies
  • Coordinate one hour per day of athletic programming during the school year
  • Support multi-sport participation and encourage overall student wellness and physical activity
  • Commitment to regular and predictable attendance
  • Adherence to Greenville Public Schools' core values: integrity, collaboration, compassion, and responsibility

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Coaching experience and/or athletic performance training experience preferred
  • Experience working with school-aged students in athletic, recreational, or educational settings
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, families, and community members
  • Satisfactory background check

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in exercise science, kinesiology, physical education, sports medicine, or a related field
  • Master's degree preferred

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) certification preferred
  • CPR, AED, and first aid certification required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, grasp, move, and manipulate objects. The employee is constantly required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb stairs, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, such as weights and equipment. The employee must be sufficiently mobile to effectively supervise and assist with students. The employee must be able to escort students, and after proper training, restrain students in an emergency situation. Occasionally, the employee will work irregular or extended hours as needed. Regular in-person work is required.

  • Communication: The employee must have clear speaking and sufficient hearing to communicate effectively and appropriately in person and on the telephone. Ability to write business correspondence in a professional manner. Ability to present information to small and large groups.
  • Reasoning: Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to use good judgment in making decisions.
  • Interpersonal: Maintain and encourage a safe environment for all students, staff, and the community. Effective organizational skills. Ability to work without direct supervision. Ability to be flexible in dealing with staff, students, parents, and the community. Demonstrates reliability, punctuality, dependability, honesty, and self-motivation while performing the duties of the position. Exhibits a positive image as a representative of the school district.
  • Mathematics: Ability to apply the concepts of basic math, algebra, and geometry consistent with the duties of this position.
  • Environmental: The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud depending on the activity in the particular part of the day. The employee is exposed to infections at a greater risk than the average person. The employee must be able to work under fluorescent lighting. The employee is required to be outdoors for extended periods of time, and is therefore subject to varying weather conditions.
