Minimum Job Requirements
โ€ข Physical - Ability to bend, lift up to 40 pounds, perform work in confined spaces when running cabling, and possess sufficient dexterity to work on computer hardware. Proficient in using a PC keyboard.
โ€ข Working Hours - Full-time (40+ hours/week) on-site position. Occasional after-hours support required for maintenance windows, system upgrades, and production emergencies.
โ€ข Personal Traits - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask across varied responsibilities. Conscientious attention to detail and accuracy. Strong problem-solving abilities and customer service mindset.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for defining, establishing and continually improving the Value Stream for Commercial programs/products. Responsible for the SQDCI (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Inventory) of Commercial Programs through the planning, procuring, manufacturing and delivery processes. Responsible for leading a cross-functional team to effectively plan and execute the SQDCI. This position is expected to help set the vision and execute strategic plans and direction, lead change efforts, and motivate teams to achieve established goals. Responsible for managing assigned budget. Manage capital equipment projects and identify capital equipment needs for the Commercial Programs Value Stream.
  • Define, establish and continually improve the Value Stream for Commercial Programs and Products.
  • Direct and coordinate the execution of manufacturing operations and schedules based on sales requirements and value stream capacity
  • Establish cross-functional team; manage and develop team members and identify and close skill gaps.
  • Partner with the Commercial Program Manager to lead new product introduction and production planning activities and ensure they are documented and completed in a timely manner.
  • Review supply chain (raw and component, outside processes) to optimize and control inventory levels and purchasing strategies to ensure material and resource needs meet the demand.
  • Review and optimize production resource requirements (equipment, people) to ensure product can meet customer expectations (Quality and Delivery).
  • Develop and execute layout changes to create the most efficient and cost-effective manufacturing methods and product flow for commercial programs (Value Stream).
  • Engage with the customer to resolve problems, enhance productivity and support customer requirements.
  • Track metrics and make changes and corrections to processes if SQDCI targets aren't being met.
  • Ensure employees are adequately trained and competent to perform assigned work tasks.
  • Ensure quality standards and policies and procedures are met and upheld in throughout the Value Stream.
  • Ensure all employees work safely and all hazardous conditions are eliminated.
  • Be a role-model for communication both within the Value Stream team and across the plant.
  • Supervise and monitor assigned employees; including hiring, terminating, performance evaluation, training, work allocation and problem resolution.
  • Assist with manufacturing process difficulties (i.e. tooling, drawing requirements and interpretations) to ensure effective corrections and implementation
  • Ensure government requirements and regulations are followed.
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent knowledge in the science of manufacturing.
  • Excellent understanding of metal processing, powder coating and assembly.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people in a changing environment and manage assigned areas working to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost metrics.
  • Strong supervisory skills and the ability to motivate and work well with others remaining unbiased and fair in all personnel-related actions.
  • Knowledge of commercial-related Quality requirements and ability to uphold and maintain them.
  • Must have strong multitasking skills and the ability to perform in a high paced environment.
  • Strong Leadership, teambuilding and interpersonal skills; conflict resolution experience desired
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with and ensuring compliance to AS9000 requirements.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, desired
  • Experienced in the use of Word, Excel and an ERP type production, costing, inventory control, and purchasing system - Epicor preferred.

Education and Experience
Experienced in low to medium volume high mix manufacturing environment with a focus in sheet metal fabrication, preferred. Experience leading the production and scheduling of Commercial related programs. Ten years' manufacturing experience and 5 years' supervisory experience required. Project Management experience preferred. A Bachelor's degree required. B.S. or B.A. in Engineering, Science or Business preferred.
