The Opportunity

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Purchasing Agent to join the Procurement Services team in Daytona Beach, Florida. Reporting to the Director of Procurement Services, this position plays a critical role in supporting the University's procurement and strategic sourcing initiatives.

The successful candidate will collaborate with departments across the University to provide procurement guidance, facilitate competitive solicitations, negotiate with suppliers, and identify opportunities to optimize spending, improve efficiencies, and enhance supplier performance. This role offers the opportunity to influence University-wide purchasing strategies while delivering exceptional customer service and supporting Embry-Riddle's academic, operational, and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and review purchase requisitions to ensure compliance with University policies and procurement best practices.

  • Support and participate in competitive solicitation activities, including Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Invitations to Negotiate (ITNs), and Requests for Quotations (RFQs).

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify sourcing opportunities and develop strategic purchasing plans.

  • Conduct spend analysis and evaluate purchasing trends to identify cost savings, supplier consolidation opportunities, and process improvements.

  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure service quality, contract compliance, and competitive pricing.

  • Serve as a procurement consultant to University departments by providing guidance on sourcing strategies, purchasing procedures, and procurement best practices.

  • Assist in supplier evaluations, contract negotiations, and sourcing initiatives designed to reduce risk and maximize value.

  • Track and measure procurement performance metrics, cost savings, and value-added outcomes.

  • Recommend and implement process improvements and technology solutions to streamline procurement operations.

  • Partner with Budget and Controller's Office personnel to resolve procurement and payment-related issues.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • One to three years of experience in procurement, purchasing, strategic sourcing, finance, accounting, or a related business function.

  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience working with procurement systems, purchasing platforms, or financial management software.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

  • Strong customer service orientation and commitment to continuous process improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Finance, Accounting, or a related field; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

  • Professional certification such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.), or NIGP Certified Public Purchasing Buyer (CPPB).

  • Experience supporting competitive bidding and solicitation processes.

  • Knowledge of strategic sourcing methodologies, supplier relationship management, and contract administration.
