Job description

About the Role

Grocery & Retail is a fast-growing business within Uber, enabling consumers to get groceries, alcohol, convenience items, and more delivered through the Uber Eats app. Our US&C Retail Marketplace Operations team sits at the center of the ecosystem - owning the health, efficiency, and reliability of the marketplace for customers, merchants, and couriers.

As a Senior Operations Manager owning Marketplace Strategy & Performance, you will help shape the strategy behind one of Uber's most complex marketplace businesses. You will leverage data to understand marketplace performance, identify opportunities to optimize marketplace health by improving reliability, efficiency, customer experience, and unit economics.

This role combines strategy, analytics, and execution. You'll own complex marketplace problems end-to-end, influence cross-functional priorities, and help shape the future of Grocery & Retail marketplace operations.

What You'll Do

  • Develop strategies that optimize marketplace health by balancing reliability, courier supply, customer experience, and unit economics
  • Analyze large, complex datasets to identify performance trends, diagnose root causes, and uncover opportunities to improve marketplace performance
  • Lead high-impact operational initiatives from strategy through execution, measuring results and driving continuous improvement
  • Partner with Product, Data Science, and Tech teams to shape product strategy, prioritize enhancements, evaluate experiments, and support the successful rollout of new product capabilities
  • Build quantitative frameworks to evaluate trade-offs between delivery speed, courier earnings, customer reliability, and operational cost
  • Lead strategic deep dives into marketplace optimization opportunities, including courier matching, order batching, delivery radii, and other operational levers that improve reliability, speed, and efficiency
  • Build analytical frameworks, dashboards, and reporting that enable leadership to understand marketplace performance and make informed decisions
  • Translate complex marketplace data into clear, decision-ready stories, trends, and strategic trade-off analyses for senior leadership
  • Build and automate performance monitoring tools to proactively identify emerging marketplace risks and opportunities

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of professional experience in a related field (consulting, investment banking, technology, operations, strategy, or analytics)
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Intermediate proficiency in SQL and Python for data analysis and automation
  • Strong proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets for financial and/or operational modeling

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of experience in consulting, investment banking, operations, analytics, strategy, or a related field, ideally in a tech or marketplace environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of owning initiatives end-to-end
  • Unparalleled business judgment: you use data to quickly develop strategies and make decisions under uncertainty
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams
  • Strong communication and presentation skills - you are comfortable presenting complex data and strategic insights to senior audiences
  • Strong stakeholder management skills - you build deep, trust-based relationships with cross-functional partners
