Job description

The American Society of Nephrology (ASN)–which represents more than 21,000 physicians, researchers, nurses, and other health professionals dedicated to creating a world without kidney diseases—seeks a full-time Marketing Associate. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing Associate will work closely with the marketing and communications team to plan and implement the marketing campaigns and plans for the organization. This role is responsible for the operational execution of ASN’s marketing initiatives, ensuring that all deployments are managed with technical precision, operational efficiency, and strict adherence to organizational standards.

The Marketing Associate will manage the department’s production calendar and email deployment cycle, serving as a vital contributor to the team. This position is based in Washington, DC, where we employ a hybrid work environment (80 days in the office required). Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Campaign Operations & Execution: Support the execution of multi-channel marketing campaigns.

Own the technical implementation of email deployments, including list segmentation, building, testing, and scheduling, ensuring 100% accuracy and on-time delivery. Campaign Development and Implementation: Assist the team in the development of marketing assets. Implement approved copy and creative designs across email and social media platforms, ensuring strict adherence to ASN brand standards.

Data and Analytics: Assist in database management to ensure data integrity. Compile and analyze marketing campaign data from multiple analytics platforms to provide insights on campaign optimization across channels and improve marketing strategies. Team Collaboration: Work across all ASN teams to ensure all marketing efforts and campaigns align with strategies and goals.

Marketing Trends and Insights : Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and industry trends to drive creativity within department and campaign development. Project Assistance: Actively manage the production calendar, tracking multiple deployments and administrative milestones to ensure all deadlines are met in a high-volume environment. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, English, Public Relations, or a related field One to three years of related marketing or communications experience, including intern experience Proficiency in using technology to organize and execute projects via Microsoft 365 business and productivity tools. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, including managing multiple deadlines and projects at the same time. Collaborative style to work effectively with volunteer members and leaders, colleagues, and other departments.

Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal skills  Demonstrated understanding of marketing operations, including use of email marketing platforms (e.g., Higher Logic or MagnetMail), social media platforms (e.g., Hootsuite), Association Management System (AMS) software (e.g., NetFORUM), and analytics platforms (e.g. Google Analytics or Fullstory). Desired Qualifications: Experience using Association Management System (AMS) software, including Customer Relationship Management (CRM).

Experience with NetFORUM is preferred. Experience using broadcast email software. Experience with Higher Logic or RealMagnet/MagnetMail and HTML experience is preferred.
