JOB SUMMARY

Meet Minneapolis is seeking a motivated, curious and creative intern to join its Equity & Community Impact (ECI) department for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Reporting to the Vice President of Equity & Community Impact, the intern will gain hands-on professional experience supporting initiatives that advance equity, community engagement, professional development and organizational impact within Meet Minneapolis and the broader tourism and hospitality industry.

This internship is designed for a student interested in applying their academic learning in a professional environment while developing skills in research, project management, communications, program development and stakeholder engagement. The intern will have opportunities to contribute ideas, participate in meaningful projects, attend industry and community events, and gain exposure to the role equity and community impact play in destination marketing and tourism.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Assist with the research, planning and implementation of strategic Equity & Community Impact initiatives.
  • Conduct research and help maintain and update ECI resources, including the Diverse Supplier Guide, Corporate Social Responsibility resources and Multicultural Media Guide.
  • Support the development of resources, learning opportunities and professional development programs for Meet Minneapolis staff and business partners.
  • Assist with planning and executing ECI meetings, programs, workshops, presentations and events.
  • Support initiatives of the Meet Minneapolis Legacy Project, an internal employee group focused on learning, community engagement and social impact.
  • Research emerging trends, promising practices and innovative approaches related to equity, community impact, tourism and hospitality.
  • Draft and edit communications for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop professional presentations, flyers, resource materials and other visual communications.
  • Attend select community, hospitality and tourism industry meetings and events and represent Meet Minneapolis professionally.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments and contribute ideas and perspectives to ECI projects and initiatives.
  • Assist with special projects and other responsibilities that provide meaningful professional experience and support departmental priorities.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in a relevant field of study.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Demonstrated interest in equity, community impact, community engagement, organizational development, human resources, tourism, hospitality or a related area.
  • Ability to conduct research, synthesize information and communicate findings clearly.
  • Ability to create professional presentations and other communications materials.
  • Demonstrated maturity, dependability, professionalism, integrity and willingness to learn.

Preferred:

  • Graduate-level coursework or enrollment in a graduate degree program.
  • Previous academic, volunteer, internship or professional experience related to equity, community impact, organizational development, research or professional development.
  • Experience or coursework related to artificial intelligence and an interest in understanding its applications within organizations and communities.
  • Experience developing presentations, flyers, digital materials or other visual communications.

SALARY & SCHEDULE

  • Paid internship. $17.00 per hour
  • Internship runs approximately September 2026 through May 2027.
  • Approximately 15-30 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate the intern's academic schedule.
  • Hybrid work arrangement combining in-office and remote work.
  • Some attendance at community, industry or organizational events may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to:

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Hybrid, professional office environment.
  • Periodic attendance at Meet Minneapolis, community, client, member and hospitality industry events.
  • Occasional local travel may be required for meetings, programs or events.
