Position Overview
Our paid internship program offers a meaningful, hands-on learning experience and the opportunity to contribute directly to our organization. Interns gain practical experience in their field of study while working under the guidance of experienced leaders.
The Communications & Administrative Intern plays a dual role, supporting both regional communications initiatives and providing executive-level administrative support to leadership. This position offers valuable exposure to internal and external communications, as well as hands-on experience in business operations, coordination, and executive support.
The ideal candidate is a second-year college student or above pursuing a degree in marketing, communications, social media, journalism, public relations, business administration, or a related field, with strong organizational and communication skills.
Location: Spokane, WA
Wage Range: $20.00-22.00/hr. DOE w/ potential for overtime

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
Communications & Marketing Support
  • Assist in creating and managing social media content across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn
  • Gather and develop employee stories for internal newsletters and communication campaigns
  • Collect project profiles, data, and photos for website updates and marketing materials
  • Support the development and distribution of internal newsletters and communications
  • Assist in promoting the organization internally and externally through various channels
  • Help coordinate and participate in community engagement events

Executive & Administrative Support
  • Organize and maintain files, records, and shared resources (digital and physical)
  • Assist with meeting coordination, including agenda preparation, note-taking, and follow-up on action items
  • Assist with event planning logistics, including scheduling, communications, and execution
  • Provide general office and administrative support as needed to ensure efficient operations

General Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update the Northwest region photo database
  • Complete performance goals and an internship project under the guidance of the Northwest Region Communications Specialist
  • Develop a strong understanding of company operations and business functions
  • Support the Northwest Region Communications Specialist and leadership with special projects as assigned
  • Perform additional duties as needed to meet business objectives
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
  • Contribute to and promote an inclusive work environment

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current enrollment or a recent graduate of a marketing, communications, social media, journalism, public relations or related field of study.
  • Sophomore standing or higher.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite of applications.
  • Detail-oriented, creative, and able to work independently or in a team setting.
  • Proficiency in Canva, InDesign, and Outlook.
  • Understand social media platforms and current market trends.
  • Previous communications and/or marketing experience or coursework
