WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

As the Plastic & Resin Commodity Manager, you will manage a critical part of CPI success, the development and implementation of our strategy for CPI plastic components which represent one the most critical direct spend category for CPI.

You will report to the Commodity Management Director and collaborate with the support of an international sourcing team (US, China, Europe, and Mexico). Your primary goal is to ensure that CPI obtains the necessary goods at the right quality, price, and terns while optimizing supplier relationships and mitigating risks. This commodity manager is responsible to lead the commodity team, including, but not limited to, engineering, quality, NPD Sourcing and site materials management, in setting the commodity strategy for Plastics and Resins. This role includes supplier relationship development, leadership of productivity project, support for site material management and quality assurance as well as supporting mew product development sourcing teams in the supplier selection process.

The Plastic & Resin Commodity Manager will have a direct impact on our supply chain group, responsible for the end-to-end category management:

  • Strategic Sourcing -- Develop and implement sourcing strategies for plastic components. This includes identifying potential suppliers, negotiating contracts, and evaluating supplier performance.
  • Cost Management -- Analyze market trends, pricing, and cost structures to identify cost-saving opportunities. Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers to achieve cost reductions or cost stability.
  • Supply Chain Optimization -- Work closely with other departments, such as buyer and supplier quality assurance team, to ensure a smooth and efficient supply chain. Address any supply chain disruptions or issues promptly.
  • Risk Management -- Identify and assess potential risks in the supply chain, including geopolitical, economic, and environmental factors. Develop strategies to mitigate these risks and ensure continuity of supply.
  • Quality Assurance -- Ensure that purchased commodities meet quality standards and specifications. Collaborate with quality control teams to address any quality issues with suppliers.
  • Cost-Benefit Analysis -- Conduct cost-benefit analyses and financial evaluations to support procurement decisions and investments.
  • Communication -- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders, including executives, to align procurement strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Continuous Improvement -- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the procurement function and implement best practices.
  • Environmental and Social Responsibility -- Consider sustainability and corporate social responsibility aspects in sourcing decisions and supplier relationships.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

You will bring your industrial background knowledge with well demonstrated experience in international supplier management.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  • +5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and project management skills

  • Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships and influence up, down, and across organizational lines
  • Hands on experience supporting new product development projects, qualifying suppliers, qualifying products/components, verifying suppliers manufacturing readiness and ramping up volume production

  • Engineering background is an advantage
