Job description

Position Overview: The Strategic Analyst is a quantitative role within the Analytics team responsible for translating complex, multi-variable business problems into decision-grade tools, risk assessments, and forecasts. This role will apply statistical modeling and structured analytical frameworks to support decision-making for leadership across risk exposure, financial and operational forecasting, and other strategic questions where uncertainty must be quantified. The Strategic Analyst partners closely with Operations and Finance leadership to build durable, repeatable tools that improve the company's ability to anticipate outcomes and make well-informed decisions under uncertainty.

Location Requirement: This is a fully onsite, in-office position based in Memphis, TN. Candidates must currently reside in the greater Memphis area or be willing to relocate prior to their start date.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Tool Development
    • Build interactive tools (e.g., structured questionnaires, scoring calculators, dashboards) that allow non-technical stakeholders to apply models and frameworks consistently across the business.
    • Document model logic, assumptions, and data sources thoroughly to ensure tools remain transparent, auditable, and maintainable as ownership or personnel changes over time.
    • Own the ongoing accuracy, validation, and refinement of analytical tools in production use.
    • Take on new, non-recurring strategic analysis requests as they arise, determining in partnership with Analytics which should become permanent, maintained tools.
  • Risk Quantification
    • Design, build, and maintain structured risk-scoring tools that translate qualitative and quantitative inputs such as contractual terms, project or site characteristics, asset and equipment exposure, financial value, and other relevant risk drivers into a consistent, defensible rating.
    • Identify and define the variables, weighting logic, and scoring thresholds that drive risk models, in collaboration with Operations, Finance, and other subject matter stakeholders.
    • Continuously refine risk models based on new data, outcomes, and business feedback to improve predictive accuracy over time.
  • Forecasting & Predictive Analytics
    • Develop and maintain statistical forecasting models for key financial and operational metrics (e.g., revenue, utilization, headcount, and other leading/lagging indicators) using the company's proprietary historical data.
    • Conduct correlation, trend, and time-series analysis to identify leading indicators and improve forecast accuracy.
    • Build reusable, auditable forecasting tools and models that can be updated on a recurring basis as new data becomes available, rather than one-time analyses.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Act as a point of contact for Operations, Finance and senior leadership for quantitative risk, forecasting, and other strategic modeling requests.
    • Communicate complex statistical and modeling concepts clearly to audiences without a technical or quantitative background.
    • Collaborate with the broader Analytics team on data infrastructure needs required to support strategic analytical work.

Success Factors:

  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity and developing structure around complex business challenges.
  • Builds practical tools, models, and frameworks that improve decision-making across the company.
  • Translates complex analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for business leaders.
  • Balances analytical rigor with practical business judgment.
  • Collaborates effectively across Operations, Finance, and Analytics to achieve business objectives.
  • Takes ownership of outcomes and continuously improves tools, models, and processes.
  • Influences decisions through insight, credibility, and trusted partnerships rather than authority.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a role centered on statistical modeling, forecasting, risk analysis, or quantitative decision support such as strategic analytics, financial modeling, or actuarial/risk functions.
  • Experience developing forecasting models, risk assessments, decision-support tools, or analytical frameworks that support business and operational decision-making.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business recommendations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the development of financial, operational, or forecasting models.
  • Experience with SQL and Power BI or similar business intelligence and data visualization tools; experience with Python or other analytics tools preferred. Proven ability to communicate analytical insights effectively and collaborate with stakeholders across Operations, Finance, and senior leadership.

Benefits:

  • 401(k) program with company match up to 10% of pay
  • Family medical, dental and vision insurance available after 90 days
  • Paid time off and other benefits
