Role Summary
Overland AI is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Financial Analyst Intern to join our Business Operations team for a 6-8 week internship, with the possibility of extending to 12 weeks based on performance and business needs. This role offers hands-on experience supporting financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and business operations within a rapidly growing defense technology company.
The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, comfortable working with large datasets, and excited to help build scalable financial processes that support strategic decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in maintaining and scaling financial and operating models to reflect evolving business needs
  • Perform Budget vs. Actual (BvA) analysis across departments and programs, identifying key drivers of variances and opportunities to improve forecasting accuracy
  • Extract, cleanse, and consolidate financial and operational data from multiple systems into centralized reporting datasets
  • Build and maintain bottom-up financial models to support business planning and ad hoc analysis requests
  • Support monthly and quarterly reporting processes by preparing analyses and presentation materials for leadership
  • Assist in developing and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) across functions
  • Partner with stakeholders across Finance, Engineering, Operations, and Program Management to improve financial visibility and reporting consistency
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance reporting accuracy, efficiency, and scalability

Desired Experience & Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Strong academic performance with demonstrated interest in corporate finance, FP&A, accounting, or business operations
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling, complex formulas, and pivot tables
  • Understanding of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint with the ability to create clear, professional presentations
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools, including SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and contributing to a rapidly growing organization
