Position Summary
The Business Development Manager is responsible for developing relationships, identifying opportunities, and executing business development strategies that contribute to TexBuilt's revenue, profitability, and long-term backlog goals.
This role serves as a key connection between the marketplace and TexBuilt's Preconstruction and Operations teams. The Business Development Manager develops and maintains relationships with clients, developers, brokers, architects, engineers, consultants, and other industry partners while identifying opportunities that align with TexBuilt's capabilities, values, and strategic objectives.
The Business Development Manager is expected to progress beyond lead generation by developing strategic accounts, qualifying opportunities, leading pursuit activities, and helping convert relationships into profitable projects and repeat business.
This individual must embody TexBuilt's core values, serve as a visible ambassador of the TexBuilt brand, and demonstrate initiative, discipline, strong relationship-building skills, and a commitment to long-term client success.
What You Will Be Doing in this Role:
Client amp; Relationship Development
  • Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with existing and prospective clients, developers, brokers, architects, engineers, consultants, and other key decision-makers.
  • Develop a strong understanding of client organizations, business objectives, project pipelines, decision-making processes, and key stakeholders.
  • Build strategic account plans for targeted clients and maintain consistent engagement throughout the relationship lifecycle.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen existing relationships and expand TexBuilt's involvement with key accounts.
  • Represent TexBuilt at industry events, association meetings, community activities, conferences, and networking functions.
  • Serve as a professional ambassador for TexBuilt and its values within the marketplace.
Pipeline, Revenue amp; Backlog Development
  • Identify and develop qualified opportunities that support TexBuilt's revenue, margin, and backlog objectives.
  • Maintain a disciplined pipeline of prospective projects and strategic accounts.
  • Track opportunities from initial identification through pursuit, award, and transition to Preconstruction and Operations.
  • Develop business opportunities that align with TexBuilt's target markets, capabilities, geographic strategy, and profitability expectations.
  • Maintain visibility into anticipated project timing, potential revenue, probability of award, and relationship status.
  • Understand annual and long-term backlog objectives and align business development activities accordingly.
Opportunity Qualification amp; Pursuit Strategy
  • Evaluate prospective clients and opportunities for alignment with TexBuilt's values, capabilities, strategic objectives, and risk profile.
  • Coordinate and participate in go/no-go discussions with company leadership and Preconstruction.
  • Develop pursuit strategies for qualified opportunities, including relationship plans, competitive positioning, differentiators, and key decision-makers.
  • Coordinate with Preconstruction and Operations to ensure pursuit strategies reflect TexBuilt's capabilities and approach to project delivery.
  • Support proposal development, interviews, presentations, and other pursuit activities.
  • Maintain consistent engagement with clients throughout the pursuit and selection process.
  • Conduct post-pursuit follow-up and capture lessons learned from both successful and unsuccessful pursuits.
Strategic Account Development
  • Develop and execute relationship strategies for assigned target and existing accounts.
  • Identify client needs, challenges, priorities, and future opportunities.
  • Build relationships across multiple levels of client organizations rather than relying on a single point of contact.
  • Develop client experience plans for strategic accounts and coordinate appropriate leadership involvement.

Market Intelligence amp; Growth Opportunities

  • Gather market intelligence through relationships with developers, brokers, designers, consultants, trade partners, and other industry participants.

  • Maintain awareness of client pain points and use that knowledge to help shape TexBuilt's approach and service offering.
CRM, Reporting amp; Business Development Discipline
  • Maintain accurate and current client, contact, opportunity, and activity information within the company's CRM system.
  • Track pipeline activity, pursuit status, hit rates, relationship development, and other key business development metrics.
  • Maintain target account and relationship maps for strategic clients.
  • Provide regular pipeline and market updates to leadership.
  • Use data and business development metrics to evaluate effectiveness and prioritize activities.
  • Ensure opportunities, relationships, commitments, and next steps are consistently documented and followed through.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with Preconstruction to transition qualified opportunities into successful pursuits.
  • Engage Operations leadership when field expertise, project experience, or client relationships can strengthen a pursuit.
  • Coordinate with Marketing on proposals, presentations, case studies, qualifications, and client-facing materials.
  • Help ensure consistent client experience from initial relationship development through preconstruction, construction, and project completion.
  • Maintain communication with project teams regarding client expectations, commitments, and relationship opportunities.
  • Support leadership in developing strategies for major clients and strategic pursuits.
Client Experience amp; Relationship Continuity
  • Maintain involvement with strategic clients after project award to support continuity of the relationship.
  • Periodically engage clients during project execution to understand satisfaction, concerns, and future needs.
  • Coordinate client feedback with Operations and company leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen relationships during and after project delivery.
  • Support post-project follow-up and positioning for repeat business.
What You Will Need for this Role:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, Real Estate, or related field preferred.
  • 5โ€“10 years of experience in business development, commercial construction, real estate development, brokerage, architecture/engineering, or a related industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop professional relationships and convert relationships into business opportunities.
  • Understanding of the commercial construction and development process.
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to engage effectively with senior executives, clients, designers, developers, and industry partners.
  • Strong organizational skills and discipline in managing multiple relationships and opportunities simultaneously.
