Department: Production
Reports To: Machine Operator / Production Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary
The Strapper is responsible for safely operating and monitoring the automatic strapping system while ensuring finished corrugated products are properly bundled, inspected, and prepared for shipment. This position plays a key role in maintaining production flow by supporting machine operators, performing quality inspections, clearing minor equipment jams, and maintaining a safe and organized work area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate and monitor automatic strapping equipment during production.
  • Verify finished bundles meet customer specifications for quantity, alignment, strap placement, and overall quality.
  • Ensure bundles are properly squared and secured prior to palletizing or shipment.
  • Replace strapping material and consumables as needed to minimize production downtime.
  • Identify and safely clear minor strapper jams or material issues and notify the Machine Operator or Maintenance when necessary.
  • Remove scrap, damaged product, and excess materials from the production area.
  • Assist Machine Operators with product changeovers, setup activities, and general production support.
  • Perform visual quality inspections throughout the production run and report defects immediately.
  • Maintain accurate production counts and communicate any production issues to supervision.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S and Good Housekeeping standards.
  • Follow all company safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, and PPE requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred; corrugated packaging experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify minor equipment issues.
  • Ability to read production tickets and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable attendance and flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or different shifts as required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during a 10-12 hour shift.
  • Frequently bend, twist, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements.
