Job description

EPC Operations Specialist

Location: Westmont, IL

Employment Type: Full-Time, Salaried

About the Company:

Join the growing Renewables Division at LiveWire Construction, Inc., a leader in the Illinois commercial solar industry. We deliver sustainable energy projects that meet the highest standards of quality, compliance, and client satisfaction. We're seeking a mid-level, detail-oriented Solar EPC Estimator/Pre-Construction - Civil/Mechanical to drive pre-construction projects from LNTP through Notice to Proceed (NTP), supporting estimating and bid development for the civil and mechanical scopes of our projects.

What You'll Do

Estimating/Pre-Construction - Civil/Mechanical

  • Interpret solar EPC RFPs and project bid documents to identify required civil and mechanical scope, and review civil and structural design and engineering drawings for constructability and completeness relative to RFP and bid scope
  • Prepare scope-of-work documents and bid packages for civil/mechanical subcontractors, solicit subcontractor bids, and build and maintain subcontractor/vendor relationships, including qualifying new subcontractors during onboarding. Lead scope reconciliation with subcontractors to close gaps between RFP requirements and priced scope, flagging scope or compliance risks along the way
  • Consolidate civil/mechanical scope and pricing alongside electrical, engineering, and procurement estimates into the total EPC bid
  • Maintain general familiarity with compliance requirements tied to civil/mechanical work (erosion control, stormwater/SWPPP, grading permits, environmental/landscape requirements), and implement value engineering recommendations into design development and related submittals
  • Support the transition of awarded projects from bid through turnover to the project management and field teams - ensuring civil/mechanical scope, subcontractor agreements, and compliance requirements carry over accurately and assist with coordinating general conditions for the site during pre-construction (site logistics, temporary facilities, security, mobilization requirements, etc.)

What We're Looking For

  • 3-6 years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, bid management, or project management within solar, general contracting/civil construction, or a related industry
  • Renewables estimating experience with proficiency in labor factor analysis and project financial evaluation
  • Strong knowledge of solar project development and construction, civil and/or mechanical construction scopes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; advanced Excel skills; MS Project; Bluebeam and PlanSwift a plus
  • Ability to read plans and specifications and solve problems independently

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field
  • Working knowledge of civil and/or mechanical construction scopes
  • Familiarity with permitting and compliance requirements related to civil scopes (SWPPP, grading permits, environmental conditions)
