As a Stormwater Intern, you will commonly assist with field data collection, water quality sampling, and monitoring stormwater infrastructure. You'll collaborate with engineering teams to update maps, review site plans, and help ensure projects comply with environmental regulations. Your responsibilities may also include preparing reports, organizing data sets, and supporting community education or public outreach efforts. This hands-on experience helps you develop practical skills in both the technical and regulatory aspects of stormwater management while working closely with experienced professionals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Stormwater Intern position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Stormwater Intern, you should have a background in environmental science, civil engineering, or a related field, with strong analytical and organizational skills. Familiarity with GIS software, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office, as well as an understanding of regulatory guidelines such as the Clean Water Act, is often beneficial. Effective communication, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn are important soft skills in this role. These competencies enable interns to accurately collect data, contribute to compliance and design projects, and work productively within multidisciplinary teams.
