Job description

Lead Responsible Engineer
Asplundh Engineering Services (AES) is seeking a Lead Responsible Engineer (LRE) for our Mid-Atlantic region. In this capacity, you will offer technical direction to project teams, ensure compliance with substation design standards and equipment specifications, and supervise the successful execution of projects. โ€ฏโ€ฏย 

This position may be performed remotely for the right candidate; however, preference will be given to applicants in the Baltimore area who can follow a hybrid schedule and engage in regular onโ€‘site collaboration.

Descriptionย 

As an LRE at Asplundh Engineering Services, you will handle large-scale projects with a focus on substation protection & control, high voltage, and physical substation review and design. Responsibilities include guiding and mentoring multi-disciplined engineering teams toward overall success of substation projects through all engineering phases.ย 

Requirements: Bachelorโ€™s degree in electrical engineering and at least 10 years of experience in the utilities sector.ย 

As a recognized technical authority, theย Lead Responsible Engineer offers consultation and expert recommendations to business units and external customers.ย

Primary Duties and Accountabilities:ย 
  • Lead and oversee large-scale projects, including developing studies, proposals, and commissioning plans.
  • Provide expert technical consultation and training.
  • Resolve specialized technical issues and evaluate engineering design documents for actionable solutions.
  • Participate in industry organizations and committees to stay updated on technologies and guide company direction (10%).
  • Assist in departmental and project planning, track metrics, and ensure results.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for internal committees and business decisions.ย 
ย  Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in engineering with 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience analyzing electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Application of engineering theory and problem-solving methods.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles, codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Industry expert, active in professional committees or published work.
  • PE license or masterโ€™s degree required.ย
