OverviewJob Summary
Assist cafeteria customers and respond to customers food requests. Slice prepared meats and make sandwiches to order upon customer's request. Clean, sweep, mop designated areas. Transport food to/from Kitchen/Cafeteria/Storeroom.

Responsibilities

  • Set up designated counters/refrigerators by a preset schedule with predetermined food that will be served on such counters/refrigerators to meet time schedule.
  • Ensure that counters/refrigerators are set with food, beverage and supplies necessary for business operation in an organized and well presented way.
  • Pre-slice cold cuts and various cheeses for lunch/dinner meal service. (where applicable)
  • Sandwich Station always has a sufficient supply of necessary items for customer's needs.
  • Prepare sandwiches to order upon customer's requests (where applicable).
  • 100% compliant to customer's needs.
  • Transport food and non food items to and from main kitchen, storeroom and cafeteria.To assure cafeteria is well stocked and customer needs are met.
  • Fill soda/water refrigerators as necessary. To assure cafeteria is well stocked and customer needs are met.
  • Performs a variety of duties such as cleaning worktables, dining room tables, refrigerators, freezers, storeroom, sweeping and mopping floors and any other duty deemed necessary by the director or manager.
  • 100% compliance to quality control checks.
  • Preps smoothie items and prepare smoothies according to customer requests. Prepare espresso and cappuccino coffees to order. 100% compliance to quality controls and customer satisfaction.
  • Cleans equipment including dishwasher, pot washer, steam tables, coffee machines, grills, ice machine, slicing machine, toasters, blenders, panini grills and any other cafeteria equipment deemed necessary by the director or manager. 100% compliance to quality control checks.
  • Carries out garbage and empty containers. Unloads, scrapes, sorts, stacks and feeds soiled trays, into the dish washing machine.
  • Cafeteria and equipment remains sanitary at all times and 100% compliant to JCAHO and DOH standards.
  • Trains other employees in his/her area of responsibility. To assure competent coverage of this position when regular associate is not available.
  • Fill and replace yogurt bar and salad bar as necessary.
  • To assure yogurt and salad bars are always well stocked and customer needs are met.
  • Assist, serve and answer customer's questions. Ensure that Food Pavilion/Cafeteria/Kiosk customers' needs are met in a very professional, courteous and correct manner. Meet standards through customer's questionnaires relating to satisfaction.
  • Makes coffee and whatever food or beverage item deemed necessary by the director or manager. Customer's needs are always met.
  • Utilizes effective interpersonal skills to communicate and collaborate effectively with the Food and Nutrition Team.
  • 100% compliance to quality. Communicates observations of customer status to professional. Assists other staff members on team within scope of practice. Interacts with coworkers in a manner that promotes team building.
  • Is responsible and accountable for own action. Adheres to MMC's HR P & P
  • Actively participates, practices and promotes Montefiore Excellence and follows customer service guidelines of the department as well as any other Montefiore initiative.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Knowledge of slicing machine preferred. Can openers, steam tables, FETCO coffee machine, Espresso machine, grill, toasters, blenders, panini grills, dishwasher, pot washer, and other cafeteria equipment deemed necessary to perform this position by the director or managers.
  • OHS Annual Assessment Required
  • OHS Fit Test Required
