What does a store warehouse associate do?

A Store Warehouse Associate is responsible for receiving, organizing, and maintaining inventory in a retail store's warehouse or stockroom. Their duties typically include unloading shipments, checking for accuracy, stocking shelves, and preparing items for store displays or customer orders. They also help keep the warehouse clean, track inventory levels, and may assist with shipping or returns. This role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and good organizational skills. Overall, Store Warehouse Associates play a key part in ensuring products are available and accessible for both staff and customers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a store warehouse associate, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Store Warehouse Associate, you need basic inventory management skills, attention to detail, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. • Secure documents such as invoices, purchase orders, and receiving records
General Operations
  • Operate forklifts, pushcarts, and other warehouse equipment safely
  • Prepare and package items for mailing or transfer
  • Assist with promotional setup and special event displays
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and company protocols
Janitorial & Special Projects
  • Clean restrooms, offices, and the sales floor as assigned
  • Use and maintain floor cleaning machines for store upkeep
  • Participate in store meetings and training sessions
  • Complete special projects as directed by store leadership
What You'll Bring:
  • High school diploma or GED (required)
  • Basic computer skills (PC operations and basic data entry)
  • Forklift certification (can be obtained through the company)
  • Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and efficiency
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and move up to 100 lbs. with assistance
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and climbing
  • Regular use of hands to handle tools, products, and materials
  • Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor conditions (including heat, cold, and dust)
  • Exposure to mechanical equipment and moderate noise levels
Why Join E&H Hardware Group?
  • Family-owned company rooted in Ohio communities
  • Supportive team culture and hands-on leadership
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance (Full-Time)
  • 401(k) with company match

  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Generous employee discount
