Job description

MERCHANDISING SPECIALIST

As Merchandising Specialist you’ll inventory, store, price, and restock merchandise displays, providing service to retail accounts within an assigned territory. A merchandiser possesses the confidence to influence key decision makers at the store level to increase brand presence.

Your responsibilities will be:

  • Merchandisers are accountable for the presentation and supply of products in different store locations.
  • Access to dependable transportation for traveling to various stores within a given geographical region. Leadership assigns designated routes and may be subject to change depending on the requirements of the organization.
  • Builds relationships with store personnel, create impactful displays, and supports a positive brand image.
  • Ensures brand programs and promotions are flawlessly executed on time and against company’s initiatives.
  • Maintains full distribution of existing SKUs. Takes inventory or examines availability to identify items to be reordered or replenished.
  • Ensures shelves and secondary placements of product(s) are fully stocked, correctly signed, properly faced, and set to schematics. Ensures shelves are clean and free of debris for placements pf product (s). Given the responsibility, the company will provide cleaning supplies to support this requirement.
  • Responsible for the implementation of the point of sales regional programs. Implements additional spaces opportunities for our products.
  • Responsible for ensuring correct product tagging, rotating, and placement of POS materials.
  • Maintains clean product on shelves and displays according to merchandising standards.
  • Requests merchandise to the in-store warehouse based on available space and product on hand.
  • Ensures plan o gram execution for all brands and/or categories.
  • Support regional manager with the coordination of special projects regarding brand programs in regional chains, customers, or distributors.
  • Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Completes accurate and timely paperwork regarding the in-store activities daily, reporting performance via the StoreCheck app used in the POS department.
  • Audits retail stores regularly to resolve any issue at the store level.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic knowledge of retail merchandising.
  • English and Spanish language fluency required.
  • A valid driver's license and motor vehicle is required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) software. Be able to compile and aggregate basic data or reports. Knowledge of Grocer Supply and/or Distributor software a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with individuals at various levels.

Physical demands:

  • The team member must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the team member is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The team member is required to stand, walk, climb, or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Capable of driving for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to concentrate in front of a computer for some periods of time.
  • Capable of moving and lifting heavy objects such as (cases of products, pallets, displays, etc.)
  • Skin may encounter some of the following products: cleansing products and personal safety products such as sanitizing gel, and towelettes.
  • Must wear protective gloves, face masks, and other protective equipment deemed necessary by MXL, by the customers, or by the City or State Government.
  • Capable of securely use corrugated cutters, scissors, and other materials or tools needed to execute daily merchandising chores at store level or in warehouse environments.
