As we continue to expand, we're looking for an energetic, customer-focused Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, help lead and develop our team, and deliver exceptional customer experiences.

What You'll Do

As the Assistant Store Manager, you will partner closely with the Store Manager to support all aspects of store operations, team performance, customer service, merchandising, and business results.

You will also serve as a key leader on the sales floor and may act as the Manager on Duty when the Store Manager is unavailable.

Leadership & Team Development
  • Support the Store Manager in recruiting, onboarding, training, coaching, and developing store associates.
  • Help create a positive, collaborative, accountable, and customer-focused team environment.
  • Lead by example through active floor leadership, coaching, and customer engagement.
  • Provide real-time feedback and coaching to employees to improve performance and service.
  • Assist with employee performance management and development.
  • Help maintain appropriate staffing coverage and support scheduling based on business needs.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty and provide leadership when the Store Manager is unavailable.
Store Operations
  • Support the Store Manager in the execution of daily store operations.
  • Help ensure company policies, operating procedures, merchandising standards, and customer service expectations are consistently followed.
  • Complete opening and closing responsibilities as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and visually appealing store environment.
  • Monitor operational standards throughout the day and address issues promptly.
  • Support cash handling, deposits, register procedures, refunds, discounts, and other store controls.
  • Assist with safety inspections, incident reporting, and loss prevention procedures.
  • Help coordinate maintenance, vendor, and facility-related needs.
Sales & Business Performance
  • Support the Store Manager in driving sales growth and achieving store performance goals.
  • Monitor and help improve key performance indicators, including:
    • Sales Revenue
    • Customer Traffic
    • Conversion Rate
    • Average Transaction Value (ATV)
    • Membership Registration
    • Payroll Productivity
    • Operational KPIs
  • Coach associates on selling behaviors, membership enrollment, product recommendations, and customer engagement.
  • Help identify sales opportunities and execute action plans to improve performance.
  • Support promotional campaigns, featured-product sales, and seasonal initiatives.
  • Assist with controlling labor and operating expenses.
Customer Experience
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and maintain a strong presence on the sales floor.
  • Ensure associates actively greet, assist, and engage customers.
  • Help customers find complete party solutions rather than simply individual products.
  • Resolve customer questions and concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Escalate complex customer issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.
  • Support customer loyalty, membership, and repeat-business initiatives.
Merchandising & Inventory
  • Support visual merchandising and seasonal floor-set execution.
  • Help maintain company merchandising standards and ensure products are properly stocked, priced, signed, and presented.
  • Assist with receiving, stocking, replenishment, inventory counts, transfers, and product organization.
  • Monitor out-of-stock items, damaged merchandise, and inventory discrepancies.
  • Support shrink prevention and inventory accuracy.
  • Help maintain organized and safe stockroom and receiving areas.
  • Participate in seasonal merchandise transitions and promotional displays.
Staffing & Training
  • Assist with candidate interviews and hiring recommendations.
  • Support new-hire orientation and onboarding.
  • Train associates on:

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with the Store Manager and Corporate teams, including HR, Supply Chain, Marketing, Finance, and Operations.
  • Communicate store needs, operational issues, staffing concerns, and customer feedback to the Store Manager.
  • Support relationships with vendors, service providers, and property management as needed.
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
  • 2+ years of retail experience, including supervisory, key-holder, team lead, or management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coach employees in a customer-facing environment.
  • Strong customer service and sales skills.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working with sales goals, operational metrics, and performance expectations.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions when serving as Manager on Duty.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak seasonal periods as business needs require.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or higher in Business, Retail Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in seasonal retail, party supplies, specialty retail, home décor, gifts, or big-box retail preferred.
  • Experience with scheduling, payroll, inventory, merchandising, or store opening is a plus.
  • Experience with membership programs or sales incentives is a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/Chinese or English/Spanish) is a plus.
Compensation

Annual Base Salary: $60,000 – $85,000, depending on experience, qualifications, location, and demonstrated leadership ability.
