Job Purpose

This position contributes to Blarney Castle’s success by leading a team of store associates to create and maintain our standards of product quality and service for our customers. The store manager is responsible for managing store operations by being a front of the store leader, connecting with customers, employees and coaching in the moment. Identifies ways to drive results, managing costs and ensuring a welcoming environment that surprises and delights our customers in full compliance with Company standards and federal, state and local laws.

Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Progress toward or completion of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred but not required.
  • Five years of relevant work experience, including leadership and supervisory responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated an understanding of basic math skills in order to prepare and interpret operating reports.
  • Able to read, write, and comprehend instructions, procedures, recipes, and training materials. Must also be able to implement these guidelines with the staff.
  • Strong communication skills, in both verbal and written form.
  • Be able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people, including internal team members, customers and vendors.
  • Demonstrate a management style that can transition easily from down-time to a fast-paced work environment based on business needs.
  • Be able to multi-task, and pivot from one task to another.
  • Able to create and sustain an inclusive team environment.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy in business operations. Experience with Point of Sale, HR and standard Microsoft Office products helpful.
  • Able to work any shift and be available on-call to handle emergency situations.
  • Demonstrated a history of dependable and consistent attendance at work.
  • Have reliable transportation and a valid proof of auto insurance in order to complete banking responsibilities and other off-site business activities.
  • Must be at least age 18 or older due to age restricted product sales.
Essential Duties
  • Lead, motivate and inspire your assigned staff to complete tasks needed to make your business thrive. Examples:
    • Staff planning and hiring
    • Training
    • Goal Setting based on their projected or communicated career path.
    • Timekeeping
    • Performance management, accompanied by continuous skill development.
    • May deliver corrective actions if necessary.
  • Ensure every customer is provided with immediate and undivided attention from yourself and your staff.
  • Maintain the expectation of Superior Super Service with all customers.
  • Customer complaints will be resolved in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Drives implementation of Company programs by developing action plans and directly motivating employees to meet operational objectives.
  • Analyze sales and expense information to maximize sales and profits.
  • Utilize tools and analyze financial reports to identify and address trends and issues in store performance.
    • Recommend action plans to your District Manager.
  • Monitors and manages store staffing levels to ensure employee development and to achieve and maintain store operational requirements.
  • Promote an environment for effective teamwork where employees feel valued and respected.
  • Identify, plan, and delegate appropriate responsibilities to ensure a smooth flow of operations throughout the team equally.
  • Demonstrate a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events.
    • Manage a smooth transition afterwards to maintain store operating standards and to set a positive example for employees.
  • Review store performance against audit standards specified by District Manager.
  • Ensure that pricing and inventory levels are properly maintained to established standards.
    • Order inventory and monitor vendor performance.
    • Implement approved promotions and ensure stock is available consistently.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws within the scope of convenience store and gas station operations. Monitor team compliance and trains as necessary.
  • Prepare and deliver deposits to the appropriate bank.
  • Reconciles daily receipts with PDI resolving any variances.
  • Ensure maintenance issues are properly communicated and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Maintain safety and security in the store and fueling area, properly document all incidents.
  • Respond to unusual or emergency situations outside of normal business hours as necessary.
  • Perform all work on-site at assigned store location.
  • Complete training within established deadlines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Physical And Environmental Conditions
  • Work is performed in a convenience store environment and may also be performed outdoors on occasion. Work will also be performed inside walk-in coolers.
  • Frequent manual hand and finger dexterity work.
  • Lift up to approximately 50 pounds, stoop, bend, reach, and continuously walk or remain in a standing position for extended periods.
  • Occasionally ascend and descend a five-foot step ladder.
  • Reading alpha-numeric data on cash registers, electronic devices and documents.
