Role Description

The Store Manager will maximize profitability by managing all aspects of store operations in accordance with company policies and procedures. This role includes providing and ensuring exemplary customer service and satisfaction, directing, training, and developing personnel, and scheduling and supervising team members within the store.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Maintains personal contact with customers and team members to ensure customer satisfaction including special orders and customer complaints.
  • Orders and ensures the ordering of all departments to maintain proper inventory levels and stock mix thereby maximizing turns.
  • Merchandises new products and seasonal change outs in accordance with company standards.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy using established auditing / verification processes and ensures that these processes are properly followed.
  • Interviews and hires according to company and statutory guidelines.
  • Assists in human resources functions including processing payroll, inputting confidential data into payroll computer, completing required forms and reports, and conveying information to corporate Human Resources personnel.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and recommends personnel actions such as wage administration, promotions, or disciplinary action as needed.
  • Schedules team members to meet labor projections directed by the corporate office.
  • Trains and ensures training of team members.
  • Monitors and evaluates cash handling and daily cash reports.
  • Ensures proper receiving and backroom check-in policies are being followed.
  • Ensures the maintenance of tags / signage throughout assigned departments.
  • Recognizes the need for and implements shelf resets and new product selection.
  • Coordinates logistics with truck drivers and loading/unloading of trucks.
  • Walks and evaluates store conditions and sets daily priorities and tasks.
  • Supervises and leads team members to work toward company directed goals and objectives, while maintaining morale and a positive work environment.
  • Monitors, directs, and assists team members in the preventative maintenance, sanitation, and repair of all equipment and facilities.
  • Follows safety and security procedures and ensures procedures are followed by team members.
  • Follows all Corporate policies according to Employee Handbook including dress code and ensures compliance by all team members.
  • Assists Front End to ensure customer needs are being met and flow of customers through the registers is adequate.
  • Operate manual pallet jack, wheeled carts, trash compactor, cardboard baler, product marking gun, shrink wrap machine, wrench, screwdriver, pliers, box knife, computer, spreadsheet programs, e-mail.
  • Occasionally operate cash register, hand held scanners, computer, fax machine, phone, printer.
  • Assists in other departments of the store as necessary.
  • Performs other functions as necessary or assigned.

Experience/Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 5 years retail experience preferred
  • Combination of post-secondary education and other related experience may be substituted for retail experience requirement.

Working environment
Work is performed in a store setting with ability to speak and receive phone communications often. Work requires computer usage with strength, dexterity, coordination and visual acuity to use keyboard and video display terminal and other office equipment. Continuously standing, walking, reaching at/below shoulders, frequently lift/carry up to 10 pounds below waist, up to 20 pounds at waist/chest and occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds.
