Job description

Overview

At Five Below our growth is driven by people who embrace our purpose: life is better when you are free to have fun in an amazing experience, filled with unlimited possibilities, priced so low you can always say yes to the newest, coolest stuff. Our culture inspires big ideas, super energy, and passion, creating a workplace that feels like a WOW place.

Role Purpose

Are you ready to lead from the floor, energize a team, and deliver results? Store Managers are the driving force behind an awesome store experience — balancing operations, team development, and customer wow moments. This role is your stage to build a high‑performing team.

What You’ll Be Rockin’ Every Day
  • Lead with presence — be the face, the voice, and the pace of the store.
  • Grow a powerhouse team through coaching, feedback, and celebration.
  • Keep operations humming: freight flowing, zones looking sharp, and priorities clear.
  • Manage labor like a boss — flex your team to match the business and stay on budget.
  • Drive sales on the floor: model selling behaviors, guide your team, and make sure every customer leaves happy.
  • Create a culture people want to be part of — positive, fun, and high-performing.
  • Pivot when needed — fast changes, no problem.
  • Show up with integrity and own the outcomes.
What Makes You Shine
  • Talent Development: people‑first, always teaching, building others up while getting things done.
  • Sales Floor Presence & Execution: lead from the floor — clear, calm, and in control (but never micromanaging).
  • Strategic Agility: stay cool under pressure and pivot like a pro when the day throws curveballs.
  • Culture & Leadership Style: bring the energy — positive vibes, high expectations, and a lot of team spirit.
  • Integrity & Accountability: mean what you say and follow through; the team trusts you.
What You Bring to the Team
  • 5–10+ years of leadership experience with proven results.
  • Experience managing a store or large department – retail preferred but not required.
  • Promotions from assistant or co‑manager roles are a big plus.
  • Comfort leading in fast‑paced, high‑volume, or high‑complexity environments.
How Success is Measured
  • Sales and labor results
  • TruRating feedback and customer satisfaction
  • Store Scorecard performance
  • Team development and retention
  • Operational execution and compliance
How You Work Best

You’re out front — leading from the floor, not behind a desk. Coaching moments happen in real time and decisions drive the day.

  • Structured time for planning success: development check‑ins, coaching conversations, labor and volume planning.
Why You’ll Love It Here
  • Competitive pay with bonus opportunities tied to store success.
  • Full benefits package: medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and more.
  • Employee discount to enjoy the fun.
  • Career growth: promotion from within and development of future leaders.
  • Recognition for wins and contributions.
  • Supportive culture valuing work‑life balance while driving performance.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of management experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to multi‑task and creatively think.
  • Maintains composure under pressure.
Essential Job Functions
  • Operate computer, printer, and cash register.
  • Ascend/descend ladders to retrieve and put away stock.
  • Position self to kneel, bend, twist, and stoop in stock room and on sales floor.
  • Identify email and print instructions for merchandise layouts, schedules, and SOPs.
  • Communicate with customers on the telephone and face‑to‑face in store.
  • Move across sales floor directing associates and assisting customers, and to/from stockroom.
  • Work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Lift, push, or pull up to 25 lbs and move merchandise up to 5‑10 ft.
  • Operate ladders, pallet jacks, and handheld devices.
  • Remain in a stationary, upright position 80% of the time.
