Position Overview
The Assistant Store Manager supports the management of in-store execution, shift leadership, merchandise management, and employee coaching.
Under the direction of the Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager is primarily responsible for carrying out daily store tasks, maintaining floor order, merchandising and replenishment, product expiration management, customer service, employee coaching, safe store closing, and follow-up on store inspection corrective actions.
Job Responsibilities
  1. Store Manager Task Execution & Shift Leadership
    1. Carry out the Store Manager's daily priority tasks and coordinate staffing assignments, replenishment, merchandising, customer complaints, exception reporting, and closing inspections.
    2. Lead on-site operations when the Store Manager is absent and maintain normal store operations.
    3. Check task completion across all areas to ensure issues have clear follow-up and results are reported.
  2. Merchandising, Replenishment & Product Management
    1. Support product merchandising, replenishment, shelf organization, front-facing, FIFO rotation, price labels, POP materials, and promotional display maintenance.
    2. Promptly arrange correction of out-of-stocks, misplaced products, incorrect price labels, expired promotional labels, and similar issues.
    3. Assist category Team Leads with receiving and shelving merchandise, replenishment, stockroom organization, and product put-away.
  3. Expiration, Shrink & Stockroom Support
    1. Assist with expiration-date checks, near-expiration records, expiration-risk reviews, damage records, shrink reporting, and exception reporting.
    2. Ensure no expired products are offered for sale and process/report exception products according to procedure.
    3. Assist with management of testers, samples, supplies, display props, and promotional gifts.
  4. Customer Service & Exception Handling
    1. Lead by example in proactive customer greetings, professional recommendations, service language, and customer farewells.
    2. Assist with customer complaints, returns/exchanges, and in-store service exceptions.
    3. Promptly escalate issues that cannot be resolved on site or may become more serious to the Store Manager or Area Manager.
  5. Employee Coaching & Execution Correction
    1. Assist the Store Manager with new-hire coaching, job training, product knowledge training, and work-process checks.
    2. Provide on-the-spot reminders and corrections for execution issues involving service, replenishment, merchandising, cashiering, cleanliness, and closing procedures.
    3. Promptly address and report employee discipline, attitude, or execution concerns to the Store Manager.
  6. Cashier, Cash & Closing Safety
    1. Assist in overseeing cashier procedures, refunds, transaction voids, cash records, safe controls, and deposits.
    2. Perform closing inspections, including refrigerator doors, air conditioning, power, computers, door locks, lighting, and equipment.
    3. Support corrective actions from store inspections and follow up on photos, records, or reinspection results.

Qualifications
  • Education: Associate degree or above; majors in retail management, marketing, business administration, or related fields preferred.
  • Professional Experience: 3+ years of store management experience in retail, supermarkets, beauty, lifestyle retail, or service industries.
  • Knowledge & Skills: Familiar with store sales, merchandising and replenishment, inventory expiration management, shrink control, cashier procedures, customer service, scheduling, and basic data analysis.
  • Core Competencies: Strong floor-management, execution, employee-coaching, and problem-solving capabilities, with a strong sense of responsibility and customer service.
