Job description

Schedule/Hours: 28 hours per week
This position is responsible for:
Assists store customers in donating, selecting, and purchasing store items; operates and maintains a cash register; responds to customers' questions; maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of the store displays; ensures the security of store items and the cash register.
Receives, sorts, and prepares donated items for display in the store; determines their suitability based on established standards; assists in maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse area.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Receives, inspects, and sorts donated items such as clothes, shoes, household items, bric-a-brack, etc., according to the category and condition.
  • Selects items suitable for store display and distributes them to the appropriate area for further sorting and pricing; discards items according to established procedures.
  • Hang clothes on hangers and place them on clothes racks.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
Ability to operate a cash register.
Ability to perform routine mathematical computations and count change.
Ability to perform frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting.
Physical ability to lift, carry, and/or push/pull light objects (less than 25 lbs.).
Moderate mobility: duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis. Distance of travel is generally within the same building.

Education and Experience
High School diploma or G.E.D. and experience working in a retail store preferred,
