Job Description

Position Overview

The Store Designer plays a key role in the development and execution of David Yurman's retail and wholesale environments. Reporting to the Director, Store Design & Construction, this position supports the design process from initial planning through construction completion, ensuring brand consistency, design excellence, and seamless project execution.

The Store Designer is responsible for creating and coordinating design documentation, developing store layouts and presentations, managing consultant and vendor coordination, and supporting project delivery across retail stores, renovations, relocations, and shop-in-shop environments. This role serves as a design leader within the department while partnering closely with cross-functional teams to bring the David Yurman brand experience to life.

Responsibilities

Reporting Structure

  • Reports to: Director, Store Design & Construction

Design Development & Execution

  • Support the design and execution of new stores, renovations, relocations, and luxury shop-in-shop projects across domestic and international markets.
  • Develop preliminary store layouts, feasibility studies, and space planning solutions for internal review.
  • Create schematic design and design development packages including:
    • 2D CAD plans
    • Elevations
    • Fixture and millwork details
    • Material and finish specifications
    • 3D renderings and presentation materials
  • Ensure all design documentation aligns with David Yurman brand standards and design intent.
  • Participate in design reviews and present concepts clearly and professionally to internal stakeholders.

Project Coordination

  • Coordinate design deliverables with architects, consultants, vendors, and internal business partners.
  • Review drawings, submittals, samples, finish materials, and prototypes for compliance with design standards.
  • Support construction administration activities, including responding to design-related questions and reviewing field conditions.
  • Assist with project schedules and milestone tracking to ensure timely design deliverables.
  • Collaborate with Facilities, Visual Merchandising, and Store Operations teams throughout project development.

Standards & Documentation

  • Maintain and continuously improve store design standards, details, and prototype documentation.
  • Organize and maintain complete project records, digital files, and departmental archives.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality control across all project documentation.
  • Contribute to the evolution of retail design concepts, fixtures, and customer experience initiatives.

Field Support

  • Conduct site surveys and field verification as required.
  • Participate in store walks, punch lists, and project turnover activities.
  • Travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Environmental Design, or related field required.
  • 2-4+ years of experience in retail store design, interior architecture, or related design disciplines.
  • Experience working with luxury retail, hospitality, or high-end commercial environments preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD required; experience with SketchUp, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and rendering software preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction documentation, materials, millwork detailing, and retail fixture design.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to design excellence.

Estimate Salary:100k - 110k
Base pay is one component of David Yurman's total compensation package, which may also include the following for eligible employees: access to healthcare benefits, 401(k) plan, bonus, employee discounts, Summer Fridays (corporate roles), generous paid time off, sick time, and more.
