JOB SUMMARY: The Market Associate plays a crucial role in ensuring excellent customer service, efficient store operations, and adherence to company policies. This position involves handling various tasks including customer service, store stocking and cleaning, assisting customers, checking in vendors, food prep, and maintaining a positive attitude at all times. Additionally, the Market Associate may be required to serve alcohol, for which appropriate training will be provided. This role also entails responsibility for cash handling, inventory management, and strict adherence to company policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Report for scheduled shifts on time and in proper uniform with a clean, professional appearance. Adhere to the Company Personal Appearance Policy.
  • Perform all assigned tasks and functions in such a way to keep your work environment, associates and customers safe. Follow all safety policies and procedures while reporting any customer or employee accidents, unsafe conditions or hazards to your Market Manager.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by promptly addressing customer inquiries, resolving complaints, and ensuring a positive shopping experience.
  • Store Operations: Perform day-to-day tasks such as stocking shelves, organizing displays, and maintaining cleanliness and tidiness throughout the store.
  • Assistance to Customers: Assist customers in finding products, answering questions, and providing recommendations, ensuring their needs are met.
  • Vendor Management: Check in vendors, verify deliveries, and ensure proper stocking of inventory.
  • Food Preparation: Prepare food items following established guidelines, including handling ingredients, cooking, packaging, and maintaining quality standards.
  • Positive Attitude: Maintain a positive and friendly demeanor while interacting with customers, colleagues, and vendors, promoting a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Alcohol Service: If required, complete appropriate training to serve alcohol responsibly, adhering to all legal regulations and company policies.
  • Cash Handling: Handle cash transactions accurately, process payments, and maintain proper cash register procedures, ensuring accountability and security.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with inventory control by conducting regular stock checks, restocking shelves, and reporting discrepancies or shortages.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Market Associates must be 18 years of age to work in the Spinx Market & Eatery.
  • The Market Associate must be available to work a variety of shifts including but not limited to nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • The Market Associate may and be expected to periodically participate in company sponsored training classes related to his/her job.
  • Previous experience in customer service, retail, or hospitality is preferred.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers and team members.
  • Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and responsibly.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory management and store operations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must achieve and maintain TIPS certification.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situation.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral, diagram or schedule form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions for this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, use tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee may be required to stock shelves, carry trash containers, work with and around hot cooking equipment and grease and to tolerate gasoline fumes and cleaning products. The employee will be required to sweep, mop floors, dust shelves, clean restrooms, the parking lot and surrounding areas. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
