Job description

Summary

Store Clerk provides in-store assistance to customers browsing inventory or checking out items. Their duties include welcoming customers to the store, answering questions about products and using a cash register to process purchases.


Job Duties

  • The essential functions of this job are identified with an asterisk (*) at the end of the bullet point.
  • Receive customers and assist them with the selection of merchandise*
  • Greet, interact, and monitor customers to assist the store in loss prevention
  • Display and organize products in a store for the customers to locate easily*
  • Help customers in billing and payment processes at the stores counter*
  • Resolve and handle customer issues effectively.*
  • Handle merchandize in a store in a safe and secure manner.*
  • Maintain the outlook of the store through dusting, cleaning and restocking merchandise on the shelves*
  • Handle record keeping and re-ordering systems*
  • Help with preparation for displays and windows
  • Clean the store and ensure products are properly displayed before the store opens.
  • Organize merchandise on shelves and restock them when they become empty.*
  • Find and retrieve store merchandise.*
  • Perform routine inventory counts and submit reports to the supervisor.
  • Carry out other store administrative tasks as directed by the supervisor.

Required Education and Experience
