Job description

Job Title: Storage Engineer – Architect Location: Washington, DC Type: Contract To Hire Compensation: Pay Rate Low: $79.11 Work Model: Remote – offsite Hours: 40.0 Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain SEC Public Trust (or higher if required)

Responsibilities

  • Support the SEC ISS contract by designing, implementing, and operating secure, scalable cloud and storage infrastructure for enterprise applications and services.
  • Support migration and modernization initiatives, ensuring high availability, security, and operational resilience.
  • Lead architecture and management of enterprise SAN/NAS and storage virtualization solutions for mission-critical systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain infrastructure, automation, and security best practices.
  • Engineer and support identity and access controls using Microsoft Entra Identity, RBAC, conditional access, and least-privilege models.
  • Develop automation using PowerShell, Bicep, ARM templates, and Terraform to provision and manage infrastructure at scale.
  • Lead complex storage projects, including migrations, upgrades, and cloud integration efforts.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure compliance with FISMA, FedRAMP, SEC, and related security and governance standards.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in engineering and architecting enterprise IT storage systems.
  • Proven experience managing multi-discipline server and system operations teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise translating functional requirements into enterprise technical solutions.
  • Strong experience with SAN/NAS technologies, storage virtualization, and enterprise backup/recovery solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise storage platforms, large-scale storage administration, and storage migrations.
  • Advanced skills in storage performance tuning, capacity planning, risk assessment, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Experience working with Clustered Data ONTAP software.
  • Knowledge of enterprise infrastructure design, virtualization, cloud integration, and security architecture.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain SEC Public Trust clearance.
