EIS is expanding our Underground and Aboveground Storage Tank (UST/AST) service line and is seeking experienced Construction Superintendents to help lead that growth. This is a niche, high-demand specialty within environmental services, and we're open to candidates nationwide - location is flexible for the right fit.

Position Description - Field Superintendent UST/AST
Business Group/Dept: Operations
FLSA: Non-Exempt

Date: May 7, 2026
Purpose of the Position
Lead field operations for underground and aboveground storage tank (UST/AST) projects, fuel facility cleaning, vacuum truck services, and environmental remediation. Oversee crews, subcontractors, equipment, safety compliance, and project execution. Provide strong leadership, hands-on field experience, and a deep understanding of fuel systems, environmental services, and regulatory requirements.
Essential Position Responsibilities
  • Supervise installation, removal, repair, and maintenance of underground and aboveground storage tanks (UST/AST), fuel systems, piping, and dispensing infrastructure.
  • Lead daily field operations for environmental remediation, industrial services, and vac truck projects while managing crews, subcontractors, equipment, and logistics.
  • Oversee vacuum truck operations including liquid waste removal, sludge extraction, hydro-excavation, tank cleanouts, line jetting, and confined space work.
  • Direct contaminated soil and groundwater remediation activities including excavation, product recovery, vapor mitigation, air sparging, and related corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate inspections, permitting, waste profiling, manifesting, transportation, and disposal activities in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings, identify and mitigate jobsite hazards, and promote a strong safety culture across all crews and subcontractors.
  • Track project schedules, production goals, budgets, equipment utilization, and change orders to ensure successful project execution.
  • Maintain accurate field reports, project documentation, manifests, compliance records, and progress updates.
  • Serve as the primary on-site contact for clients, inspectors, consultants, subcontractors, and project managers while communicating project status and resolving field issues.

Physical activities: Must be on feet for up to 10 hours per day; regular standing, sitting, kneeling, twisting, bending; must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds; must be able to work in extreme hot/cold, wet/dry environment; must be able to perform repetitive motions such as lifting, carrying, shoveling
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Steel toed footwear; hard hat; safety vest; protective eyewear; gloves

Licenses/Certifications Required: Valid Driver's License; OSHA 10; UST Remover/Closure Certifications; Ability to obtain and maintain required state and local licenses
