Tank & Pressure Vessel Engineer

API 650 / API 653 / AWWA / ASME Section VIII

Position Summary

We are seeking a Tank & Pressure Vessel Engineer with hands-on experience in the design, inspection, and evaluation of aboveground storage tanks and pressure vessels. This role supports new construction, in-service equipment, and repair/alteration projects in accordance with API 650, API 653, AWWA and ASME Section VIII, with a strong emphasis on ASME pressure vessel design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and review pressure vessels in accordance with ASME Section VIII, including calculations, material selection, and code compliance
  • Perform and support aboveground storage tank design and evaluation per API 650
  • Support inspection, repair, and alteration activities per API 653
  • Review drawings, specifications, and fabrication details for code compliance
  • Evaluate inspection data, corrosion rates, and remaining life
  • Develop technical scopes for repairs, alterations, and retrofits
  • Support fitness-for-service evaluations in accordance with API 579 (as required)
  • Coordinate with inspectors, fabricators, contractors, and Authorized Inspectors
  • Prepare clear, concise engineering calculations, reports, and client deliverables
  • Provide technical support during construction, fabrication, and field execution

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)
  • 3+ years of direct ASME Section VIII pressure vessel design experience
  • Working knowledge of API 650 and API 653
  • Experience interpreting inspection data and fabrication drawings
  • Strong understanding of applicable industry codes and standards
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly in written and verbal form

Preferred Qualifications

  • API 653 and/or API 510 certification
  • Experience with API 579 / Fitness-for-Service assessments
  • Experience with vessel fabrication process
  • Experience supporting Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) studies
  • Experience with terminals, refineries or mission-critical facilities
